Is this possible to do on a mk2 Ibiza 2.0l 16v without too much hassel and money? If so, i mite think about getting it done! cheers
It'll probably work out cheaper to sell your car and buy a mk3 cupra.
It is possible to transplant the engine form a cupra, but you'd need the whole front subframe and all the extras like gearbox, ecu, wiring loom, intercooler etc. It has been done, but it'll cost a fair bit. I looked into this myself, then ended up selling my 16v and buying a turbo, which is by far the easiest way to get more power.
Also bear in mind that you want get anywhere near the cost of the conversion back when you come to sell the car.
no point, it'd cost you about £3000-£4000 to have it done professionally so you may aswell spend the extra you will spend on insurance to own a car with a different engine and buy a mk3 cupra
:)
You might get <£600 for your engine and gearbox etc; 1.8T lump £750-£1200 depending on spec and condition etc. If you transplanted the 150 1.8T there isn't going to be a whole lot of difference in speed from what you have now (unless you mod it) plus you still have to pay for the transplant itself. Might as well go for the higher power rated 180 or 210/225 but the question still begs, will the 6 spd fit - fits into a Golf2 so maybe ...
won't stop me from doing it - but then again my labour's free
gearbox, subframe, engine mounts are all OEM so all you *need* is engine, cooling, wiring & ECU
the hardest bit (not the most time consuming bit) would be the cooling issue as there isn't a fat lot of room with the rad & aircon.
