I HAVE A MK2 IBIZA 1.4S 99 LOWER 40MM ON 17'S,BUT IT STILL HANDLES CRAP ESPECIALLY AT 70+ MPH. WAS THINKING OF FITTING AN ANTI ROLL BAR OFF A GTI AS MINES DOESN'T HAVE ONE? HAS ANYONE FITTED ONE AND IS IT WORTH DOING?

I did it & yes it's worth doing.

23mm Bar from a 20VT Mk3 will set you back about £45 plus about £15 for the brackets

made a lot of difference on my ibiza when i fitted it & a huge difference when I snapped the link on my cordie and ran without one!

Very true, when compared to an aftermarket item of almost identical diameter costs almost twice as much.

From GSF: centre bush £1.30, link rod £8.00.

If mine don't break at the end of this month then you can have them for the price of postage.

Mdarroch, but you can have the connecting rods if you need them (assuming they are ok for reuse). Fingers crossed finally I will swap this front bar over!!!!

Rear ARB off a mk2? Is the OE one not inside the rear beam and non-removable?

Not fully looked yet on the car just been pricing them up. Please explain. If I can buy rear ARB's for the car and I am unable to remove the rear where would I fit the new one.

Aftermarket rear ARB is additional to the one welded into the rear beam. A few on here, like me, have gone for the Neuspeed Golf2 bar.

the rear arb fits on the inside of the back of the rear beam the standard one is fitted to the insideof the front(its easy enough when ya see it)

Is there a how to anywhere as I will be doing this myself. Where did you get the neuspeed bar from and do you have the part code. I have been speaking to guy at awsome about it.

If going Neuspeed rear ARB, then you will need to use drop link brackets to adapt the MK2 Golf Neuspeed fitment ARB to the Polo MK4 rear beam, which is narrower. Simple brackets, and available from Autotechnik (02380 ******)

Choice of 2 diameters on rear ARB. 25mm, 28mm both 3 position adjustable.

25mm rear ARB range of adjustment is:-288 inch-lbs./degree. At the full Stiff setting the bar is rated at 376 inch-lbs/degree.

28mm rear ARB range of adjustment is:- NOT LISTED! DOH!

simple brackets ,or get yer drill out.piece of cake to fit, just drop the arb rubbers in some hot water to soften first.mines only on the middle setting and its amazing how much better the arse end feels now
also add 20mm rear spacers for this, helps out loads

Think that's answered the query, but just to re-iterate - the standard bar at the rear is welded inside the rear beam and is not removable - that was the point I was making in my earlier post. Aftermarket rear bars are external to the beam, mounting details vary depending upon supplier. The guide Flapper linked to above is for Eibach bars - no longer produced as far as I recall. Aftermarket bars from other supliers (e.g. Neuspeed) intended for mk2 Golf fitment can be made to fit as discussed above.

Cheers Bill I will talk to you again when I am ready to order the Brembo brake upgrade. I have decided to look at the millemigla LCR wheels but in 16" as they will provide the clearence.

Thanks to both you and flapper for you invaluble advice so far. Hopefully get my car back within the next 2 weeks

Eibach bars are, or were in the past few months, available again. No Ibiza kit IIRC but Golf2 available at least. Thing is it's a 22/25 non adjustable combo and costs ~£200 +/- a few £. If you can get the 20VT front bar on the cheap then the Neuspeed 25 rear the total cost should be less than the Eibachs, smidge different at the front but a smidge extra adjustability.

Sorry Ed, should have been clearer - Eibach bars - no longer produced in Ibiza specific fitment as far as I recall.

With you Glyn, Golf bars only became available again end 03 or beginning o4 IIRC, I don't know if they are still being produced or whether they are readily available. Could always get H&R bars too like Saul and Kev (?)
