Just bought a 10 plate Ibiza Sport Coupe and one little thing is bugging me,

Happened a few times when turning left seem to get a little feedback through the wheel and like it wants to pull left, mainly when slowing down and turning ie at junctions.

Any ideas what it could be?

Bought from Seat dealer so gonna have word with them about it but thought Id be best off going to them with a vague idea of what it could be

Could be low fluid level or Tracking out

well its booked in with the dealer tommorrow I hope its as something as simple as that. Theyve said theyl sort it due to me only just getting the car so.

Normally I wouldnt be worried but the car I had just got rid of Ive only recently changed the steering column on so I dont want history repeating itself!

If your slowing down, I assume you are braking which could indicate a brake issue?

My car also does this every so often. I have tried braking with out holding the steering wheel in a safe place. Sometimes it pulls to the left and others it doesn't. Sometimes I think it is the ground that is casing it. If I accelerate hard, with less grip of the wheel, it does not want to pull to the left.

roads typically camber ot the left, perhpas this is the issue?

I used to find this with my Ibiza when I first got it nearly a year ago, but haven't really noticed that in a long time.

Statements like that spread myth about VAG`s pull to left because of camber of the road. VAGs can go straight even with slight camber of the road.

As far this problem it could be few different issues but the fact you getting strange responce/pull while turning it is possible that geometry/tracking is set wrong. If you toe in or our too much then with wide turn you will feel it like rough rubbing that comes from surface. Check your front tyres for uneven wear or sawtoothing shape and that will confirm wrong settings.

well its in the garage this morning to get sorted so see how it goes, Not a good first impression as they hadnt even booked me in even though I rang them yesterday.

Only got the car on Friday and the car tht the Ibiza is replacing had just had the steering column replaced at great expense to myself so its worried me as I dont want it to be the EPS sensor on the steering column.

Can you explain to me what VAG is, as it is not a term I have came across before.

VAG = Volkwagen AG

The parent group holding of VW, Audi, Skoda & Seat

Because the cars share platforms and parts across the 4 brands they are collectively refered to as VAG cars.

I know off thread subject but theres a few lil querks Ive picked up on in the short time that ive had the car.

Front fog lights coming on when the car is put into reverse? is tht meant to happen

And also if the heaters are on and the car is put into reverse the face fans come on heavily, take out of reverse and they go off :/

1. Yes.

2. Its recirculating, so you don't get exhaust fumes in the cabin ;)

well ive just been on the phone to the garage and apparently theres no fault? Told them to check it again because obviously I have a steering wheel so I can drive the car not so it can drive itself!

When you get hold of the car again you can do a couple of basic checks yourself.

1. Check the power steering fluid level - when it gets low it shows up more under braking and the steering can suddenly go heavy.

2. See if the one fog light comes on in the direction you are turning ( at slow speed ) - this will conform that the steering angle sensor is operating.

is that to check that is operating correctly? do I need my lights or anything on to do that or will it just come on regardless?

Yes - the steering angle sensor sends the signal to the control unit to switch on the fog light in the direction you turn. It will confirm that the angle sensor is operational.

Yes I think you need your lights on for the cornering lights (fog lights ) to operate

I had mine switched off cos they were anoying. I don't get them comming on in reverse either now.

I dont get that at all, noticed it yesterday, I thought it was wired up wrong, fog lights in reverse. madness. I dont drive with front fogs on either, it winds me up when others do it!

As Deano said, you can deactivate it via VCDS. As for the fog lights, you wouldn't like my mk3 then. I've got DRLs wired into the fog assemblies (pics in my thread)
