View Full Version : Tuning box v Chip
I know that this has been done to death, BUT....
I have a toss up between a speed-booster box (as seen on e-bay) or Upsolute chip.
Pros / cons??
Box = up to £150
Chip = £280 approx.

Box is fine, chip just gives you a bit more ooomph when going up steep hills in top gear etc. as it allows the ECU to call up a bit more turbo boost, whereas as the box will just alter fuelling (and injection timing on some).
Box good, chip better.
There that's it, done to death.
Discussion dead. Me Boxed it.
yep job done, ive got a speed buster box, does the job but a bit lumpy sometimes at idle. a remap would be smoother, but cost more.
Dont forget u can always unplug and sell the box after u sell the car to get some cashola back, where as a remap u cant.

Ladies and Gentlemen, always take everything I say with a pinch of salt!
I didn't get bored with my 'box either, was actually rather fond of it and had bought connections to permanently hardwire it in when the warranty ran out on the drivetrain, but alas one felt the need to experiment (too much time spent trawling the internet I'm afraid) and experiment I did.
Ended up with lots more power, plenty of smog and pants MPG.......
Now have even more power but much less torque, apparent absence of smoke and even more pants MPG (never happy, me!).
:cheers:
