Today I'm hopefully going to get a sportrider. I've had cupras and FR's and currently drive a Lexus IS250, so I'm sure it will feel alot slower.
Anyhow I have my bike for speed thrills.
Reason for change is to cut down on running costs as I only work two miles from home and the Lexus is juicy.
I'm hoping to get a good deal on the 1.2 tsi otherwise will go for the 1.4. Now colour I'm undecided and I suppose it depends what they have left unless I get a factory order. I was thinking red or white as I would like to add a few subtle touches like rear spoiler, black roof, apex springs.
Look forward to being active again on this great forum.

Think alot of people will agree that the 1.2tsi will be the better option from the rave reviews I have been hearing. Good economy and decent performance. :)

I don't understand. Even if it's juicy, surely it's not a concern if you are only doing two miles?

It's only averaging about 22 mpg. Also do short trips to pick son up from nursery so uses alot of fuel on a weekly basis. Plus tax, insurance and servicing adds up in a year.

Ah I see.
I have a 1.2 TSI. On a cold start it's averaging about 22 mpg when the computer readout starts. After about one mile it's showing perhaps 35 and mayber 40+ after 2 miles. This is all in light traffic. Overall since new I've averaged 45.

Perhaps that will help you decide.

My 1.2 TSI is doing pretty indentical to yours NetworkMan.
I think you will be suprised how nippy the 1.2 is, compare to the 1.4 any way.

Again 1.2 Tsi owner here, very pleased. Mine is the 7speed DSG. Cracking car. Highly recommended.

I love my 1.2 TSI... i'm only averaging about 36mpg though on my commute, but I realised that it's best mpg (50mpg+ ) is at around 50mph and on my commute there's no 50-60mph roads, only 30 40 and 70mph... of which I'm rarely doing 30 40 or 70...LOL

Still it's about 6mpg average better than my old 1.4 was on the commute and FAR better on a run... and SOOOO much more fun to drive. yes you may find it slow compared to FR and Cupra... but it's still a nippy beast capable of surprising a few people. Very cheap tax too.

Think you'll struggle to get a factory order on a Sportrider, it was really only a run-out model for the last of the pre-facelift MK5s and now the new model is revealed they'll be getting production ready for that. There are likely to be some in stock but not a great deal.

Right as I thought not many in at dealers. Have managed to get a decent deal on a white 1.2 tsi with dsg. It's a bit more per month than what I want to pay but going to see the dealer tomorrow again to see if I can get any more off. I have purchased 4 SEAT's from them in the past.
I drove a 1.4 today and it was better than I expected but deal was worse than on the 1.2 and it was pre registered.

Definitely go for the 1.2 Tsi. I've averaged around 38mpg on my 1.4 since buying it (7000 miles).
Hoping to upgrade to the tdi or tsi sometime soon.

Just be aware that the DSG lacks the ESP package and stop-start fitted to the manual.
