View Full Version : Creaking passenger seat - FYI
Hey all,
Took my Leon into the dealer (Letchworth Autoway) the other day as the steering wheel was slightly off centre. They did a 4-wheel alignment and all is perfect now http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
Whilst I was there I mentioned that I had finally tracked a rattle down to the passenger seat. At a round 40 over rough roads it was getting very annoying! Took ages to track cos when someone is sitting in the passenger seat it doesn't rattle - only when driving solo!
Anyway - they sent a mech out to look. One min and he diagnosed the head rest supports as the cause (apparently common). A short mod later whilst it was in the garage and not a creak/sqeek or rattle left!

Things are great!!! The power is staggering! Any gear at any speed is amazing! However, just starting to get used to it and wondering if I should have got the 140bhp??.....NAH!!! This 210 is mad!
One thing though (still waiting for a reply from RSD on it). At low revs in a high gear - say 2k rpm in 6th - if you floor it you get a slight on-off-on-off of power (only slightly). The only thing I can think of is that the dump-valve is opening slightly, closing and opening slightly again as you hit max boost and then fall slightly under again. Waiting for RSD to let me know. However, no problems in full tilt mode and it is only a small niggle anyway http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
No real difference noticed in mpg. Much nicer to drive slow around town too due to extra torque. Also, love the sound of the turbo when you stamp the loud pedal http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
Rich (v. happy still)
PS - second thing - Oettinger sticker fell off.... I should have cleaned the surface better before putting it on! D'oh!

Got this from RSD:
Richard,
This is a characteristic of the engine / ECU combination in your car, the pulsing normally occurs in maximum load situations..as the rather sensitive knock sensors tell the ECU to back off a bit..and to be honest is dam near impossible to cure...Seat are having all sorts of fun explaining why the standard 180bhp car does this, normally the oettinger chip is no worse than the standard car..which is impressive when you consider the extra torque being delivered.
Tony
So - as far as I'm concerned - not a problem. Only ocurs if you drive like a girl anyway :-)
Rich (wouldn't dare drive too fast!)
