View Full Version : Reversing Light and rear fog light
I took delivery of a 1.2 SC sportsrider TSI DSG a week ago and yesterday checked that all lights were working. Only one reversing light and one fog light worked. I called the dealer who checked on a 5 door sportsrider in the showroom and told me that one had 2 reversing lights and 2 fog lights. He later called me back to say he had check a 3 door and they only had one light of each.
I am not sure what to believe as when you look through the lens it looks like there is a bulb there .
Can anyone confirm if one light is correct or should it have 2.

Quite correct, only one of each on the 3 door and two on the 5 door. For some reason the rear light clusters are not the same.
If you search this site you can find lots of stuff from people who have fitted brighter, LED lamps to replace the reversing light(s).
Thanks for the quick reply. :)

I never even thought about it since my old 5Dr ibiza only had one of each I assumed all ibiza's only had one of each. I didn't realise that the 5 Dr mk5 had a different rear light cluster!!

So can you just stick a 5 door cluster onto the 3 door then?

No you can't as the lights have a different shape.

The reversing light in the SC is puny, so I'd recommend fitting a high power LED lamp and it makes a BIG difference. Search the forum for more info... :)

I read something about interference if you use an led in the rear, is that true?

Never had any problem with this on my car! Then again some people get CANBUS errors (warning light in dash) when using LED lamp in the reverse light and I never had that problem either! I think its pot luck depending on how Seat set up the ECU at the factory. Some cars have CANBUS monitoring on the reverse lamp circuit, some don't. Go figure!
I'm so glad I fitted the LED reverse lamp - the difference is astonishing!
