got my mr hoot finally and apart form screwing up the setting on the box the difference is amazing  - A glow plug light flashing half way home on first run is not a good sign

Though I had to turn down the power today as last night each time I pulled away hard all I could see is nice cloud of haze in peoples headlights

question to see how hard it will hit fuel consumption as I still need over 500 miles to a tank to make it worth it

Nowt wrong with that, in fact you could get chucked out of the SCNSSC for doing anything to reduce soot production :D

Youll probably find the trip computer gets a tad more optimistic, usually does with the resistor mod type boxes.

Totally agree...

I thought the soot is not healthy for the engine as its not burning efficiently and can damage the cat etc

what I'm more concerned is not killing the fuel economy as if it works out anything less than 500 miles to a tank I'll be loosing out too much in milage, jury is still out first need to reset the ECU so it looses the error codes I got from the prevoius adjustment error

and heck if the soot is safe and not an issue to engine then bring it on

You'll probably find that the mod itself doesn't worsen mpg (might well improve it), but your driving style with the new found power will do....

cat, shmat, take that out and get a real exhaust in there.

clogged CAT are not unheard of,.but it would take quite a long time..

Depends Simon, we've had a few cars that lost topend power, by removing the CAT (but alot more midrange power). Best setup I've seen thus far is keeping CAT and removing everything else (straight back tubing from CAT back).

ouch that would be loud considering the size of the current backbox

i had this trouble with mine , but i had connected mine wrong and was
killing MAF.

Flashing glow plug light means fault code on ECU !!!

You'll be surpriced to find out it's not loud at all. The turbo muffles most of the sound. Will actually get a bit of DV type woossch.. :)

cool from what I got from mr hoot the flashing glow plug light was happening as engine was getting overfueled which would be right as fuel was getting used up like no tommorow have played with the box setting and seems a lot better plus no flashing light.

on first test got 125miles in first quarter of tank and thats a very mix driving of a lot of traffic and bit of 60mph +, this one at least doesnt connect to the MAF so less hassle

Right my turn now......

I have two boxes... Mr Hoot PD Box c/o\ Ian (Driveforward) on the Alhambra, MPG has actually increased! (Appart from when I get behind the wheel! :-o )

& on my MY00 Non PD Leon (Ssssssh she will be 4 soon!) I have a Tuning Box which is fitted to the Maf... Mmmm I can get as low as 35mpg OR as high as 60mpg (Trip up to Liverpool constant motorway - Need cruise......)

IT depends on how you apply your foot to the pedal  But having done the EGR / ERG (I give up on this!! :hide: ) mod the Soot on the Alhambra is reduced on startup (Major Plus) However, when you apply the pedal on a hill, Sorry, its a cloud  :roflmao:  & off it goes......

Enjoy.....

sounds good as you said depends on driving, they defintly make ad ifference my car feels far more active and alive and today on trip to liverpool it worked out about 600 miles plus to a tank which works out very decent in deed

But having done the EGR / ERG (I give up on this!! :hide: ) mod
E G R - Exhaust Gas Recirculation

The EGR mod on mine reduced soot production slightly, so I've had to tweak my resistor mod a little further to bring it back again :D
