Coil warning light

Hi,

I started the car this morning and the coil light (for diesels) was flashing and remained flashing whilst driving. I read the owners manual and it seems to start that it is an engine management issue, if this true?

I have it booked into the garage this week to see whats up with it but is there a usual fault that makes this light come on?

I have done some research and it seems like the rear brake switch can set the warning lamp off so I intend to change that before sticking in on the computer. Fingers crossed its an easy fix and the car seems to be driving ok.
