View Full Version : Spacers on the rear..

background:
When having my brembo's fitted, it was necessary to fit 10mm spacers on the front to ensure they clear the callipers, AMD supplied hub centric ones and necessary bolts, which have done the job nicely.
However, this meant the already slightly narrower track at the rear, was now much narrower.
So I ordered from badger5, a pair of eibach 15mm hubcentric spacers. To go with these I got some 50mm bolts, and new locking wheels nuts.
I finally got round to fitting them today...well I say fitting them, I'm lazy remember :) - I went to the tyre shop, to get front tyres sorted (mismatched after being run off the road etc), and got them to do it.
I don't have any photos, as I'm still without a working digital camera, but suffice to say, the wheels fill the rear arches nicely now, and looks 'proper bling'.
As for driving with them on, the car feels much more sure footed at the rear, and whilst it might be pyschosomatic, handles better.
At high speeds, its more stable too.
all in all very impressed.
Nice...
IIRC the Ibiza 4/Fabia is 10mm narrower at the back than the front... so i may consider a set :)
how much did the various parts set you back and where did you get the bolts from?
:( me wanted photos.... ;)

Spacers themselves cost ~70ish from badger5. they're eibach 15mm hubcentric. very nice.
Bolts, badger5 can supply them, but they were set the wrong set (35mm not 50mm shank), so I got mine from GK's in colchester.
I got a set of 4 locking wheelbolts (they come in 4's), and 8 normal ones, about £40 I think.

so how what size spacers can you put on before you have to start paying out the extra for longer bolts?
ive has spacers before on previous cars, never had to get longer bolts.....
ive got leon cupra...
any info would be great.

I'd say any bigger than 15mm then you need longer bolts.
Any spacers will require longer bolts to remain safe. The std wheel bolt is 30mm in length.
Allways add the depth of the spacer onto the std wheel bolt length, i.e 40mm bolts for 10mm spacer.
Dont however use bolts that are longer, this can result in alot of damage if the bolt contacts the ABS ring etc, and they can come loose if they rub on the inner part of the upright.

More so on the fronts as too long a bolt can push the ABS ring onto the ABS sensor which aint to cleaver.
Bill,
Briskoda rr day, this Saturday @ AmD Bicester. Al places are booked and reserve list is full but your more than welcome to come along anyhow :)
And we had a customer at MK SEAT that fitted a set of Mc Guard locking wheel bolts that he got from Halfrauds which were to long, he wound them all in and wondered why his car wouldnt move on the drive way. £1700 later he was fixed, the car was a Leon4 and needed 4 x drive flange with ABS ring, 4 x ABS sensors, 4 x Wheel bearings and the labour.
Opps
