Well I am annoyed.... Having changed jobs, and lost the use of a works van, I decided to get a little runabout rather than use the Exeo to do 80 miles a day... So on Saturday I collected a very nice red, 08 plate Seat Ibiza 1.2 3 cylinder, with 35000 recorded miles...

Used it over the weekend, no problems, used it all day today, again no problem ... except, on the way home, just as I was thinking how well it ran, and how good it appears on fuel, the engine light came on... the small engine symbol.. car still sounds and runs OK, does not appear to be in any form if limp mode...

So, I know I need to get in touch with the dealer, it is an approved Seat used with a 12 month warranty, but an I safe to drive it until the weekend as this is the only time I can get to the dealer?

Have you got VCDS?

Might just have been a sensor that tripped it (but maybe not the obvious ECP ones)

As long as the light isn't red, you should be fine though short term

Hi Mork

No it is a yellow symbol.. there was no problem, just came on for what seemed no reason, and seems to run just fine now...

I have got VCDS, and did have a quick look for the port, but could not see it.. any idea were it is on this year Ibiza?

I think.... Right side of the dash, drop a cubby hole down & remove it (push in the clips)

The OBDII port should be straight up from there I think.

Spot in mate :) Thank you!

Just connected VCDS and it came up with one fault, but like an idiot I never saved/wrote down the code... I do remember it contained something about fuel too lean... which I expect was the oxygen sensor..

I have cleared the code and the light is out, just done about 3 miles and it has not come back on... So I will see how it goes Tuesday :)

I did email the dealer telling him I was not happy... then emailed again saying ignore last instruction.. lol

At least I know were the socket is now... lol

I will be doing about 80 miles a day, which is mostly 60mph roads, so I will see what happens tomorrow .. other than that the car seems OK... Hopefully just a one off.... but I suspect not :)

Thanks again Mark ;)
