I've got a Cupra 20VT which is about 4 months / 2500 miles old and has just started making strange creaking noises from the front right strut or steering/engine bay area when goving over bumpy or rough roads. Cant really tell which it coming from to be honest but it doesn't sound very healthy. Anybody of you guys from dealers come across this before. Haven't taken it to the supplying dealer yet as they're 35 miles away.

Nope,
Mine is definately suspension or steering or perhaps antirollbar. Am going to have a good poke around underneath at the weekend. Seems to be worst or most noticable when going slowly. If you open the bonnet and grab both wings from the front and pull it from side to side it sounds like a donkey!!!
EEEHAW to know better than that !!!!

My Leon seems to creek on the inside, from the Seats and the rear hatch, not too clever on a car that's only 2 months old. The gears seem to be notchy when changing to 3rd but otherwise ok

Funny you should say that. I though mine was coming from the leccy seat at first but now its got worse its definately coming from under the bonnet.

Hello Leon Owners,
I have a Leon 20VT 4. Its mileage is 12,000 Kms (I live in Greece). Well it has the same problem. Passing over bumpy roads (sleeping policeman) you hear that noise. It is definately the rubbers that hold the antiroll bar to the chassis. The local service garage said so. It's nothing to worry about..

Hmmm, my Ibiza Cupra creaks as well ! I thought it was coming from the seat, but im not so sure now ?

Hi Guys
Have now a 20vt (9000 KM) and the same problem. From my former A3 I know its eigther the front springs "rubbing" in their seats, or the anti roll bar that makes the noise. It should only be the case when tha car is lovered.

Hi, I have a Seat Leon 20vt (1.8T) with 5 months of use, now is 10,000km and I’m having the same problems with the front suspension; there are some creaks during the suspension travel, like you said apparently this noise come from the rubber bushings of the front sway bar. There are other strange noises in the front suspension like clicks and clacks. All the noises are while starting, stopping or traveling at low speed (like city traffic).

Yep sounds exactly like mine. I have a mate who works for a garage and we put the car on the ramp and pulled the front end about until we found where the sound was coming from.
I appears to be a mixture of the front right lower antiroll bar mounting bush and the spring hat on the right strut. Suspension on my car is standard and although its a bit iritating it does seem to have got better over the past few weeks. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif

I had an aftermarket anti-roll bar in my Golf that made the same noises, every week I oil sprayed the rubber bushings to get rid of the noises. But if it is raining the oil spray doesn't last. Lots of craking while moving slow also due to the attachment to the control arm being worned out. Finally gave up and installed back the original anti roll bar. Too bad the original anti roll bar in the Leon is making the same noises!!!

Hey Cupramax, i know it's a fair bit after the event but did you ever get this resolved by the dealer ?
My LCR is doing the exact same, or sound from your description to be the exact same.
Any help is appreciated, as i have had the ARB mounts and brackets replaced and the noise has just come back after 1 week of this warranty work (twice now)
I have a similar problem on a Leon Cupra TDI done 7500 miles
a creaking noise seems to be coming from rear drivers side seat or suspension only when going slowly and on bumpy roads.
Had the rear seats down and found a screw underneath, cant seem to find any hole to put it. Not sure what is creaking
Having it serviced next month so will check with dealer.

Funny how the new cars have the same problems as the old :)
Did you ever find out what the noise was ? Never looked at the date  :)
I was gonna say! Still an on going problem as far as I'm aware but it seems to only happen to LCRs when its raining and it eminates from the rear suspension type area. I've just got used to it now.
Nice prompt responses for posts thats what we like to see. :)
