View Full Version : damaged suspension?
Last year i changed my springs on my Cupra gti and had it lowered by 40mm. recently whenever i turn right (even on straight roads where the surface is uneven) the front left suspension unit is bouncing everywhere, it feels as though the dampers have gone, and not properly connected to the car. during a service the garage changed my suspension mounts but that seems to have made no difference!
ANY IDEAS/?
Thanks :-o
as you say
your shocks have gone
tho i bet they were gone before you changed the springs.
can i buy just one i do i need to buy a pair or sets? any idea on the cost??
Cheers
Ideally you buy them in sets of 2 although they are available single. Note though, you will f*ck em quick enough with just lowering springs as they reduce the life of shocks.
buy them all (and springs) for all in £226

...can i buy just one...
Well, yes, you can, but it's false economy. Mind you, then again so is putting lowering springs on standard dampers, but that's been discussed to death far too many times...
for £226 are they standard springs&dampers or will they lower the car anymore, remembering it's 40mm already..? also, do they fit them or will i have to get garage to do that - price?
Thanx
won't lower it any more no. Give em a call, they will fit them (but not included in price, but will do deals!)
prices vary, buut as they're suplying - I'd imagine there is more room for margin.

Is there any cheaper way of fixing the suspension damper? as much as i love my Beeza, i can't justify spending anymore on it as i'm saving for a cupra R, can i buy set of dampers from dealers/anywhere and get someone to fit them for me? any ideas on how much that would cost/?
OEM will cost more than modified I think.
nobody will buy your car on shagged suspension though

Bear in mind that standard dampers will cost the same to fit as uprated ones - cos they still need the camber & tracking setting up. Standard dampers will get f*cked up quick with lowering springs - fact of life. Uprated dampers are designed to do the job - and will last longer. And seeing as the car will ride better on matched dampers & springs and the difference in price probably isn't that large... well, personally, i'd have said it was a no-brainer, but given some of the decisions i've been making lately...
somebody is selling cupra R suspension, would they fit my cupra sport??
the struts may - but they're twice the price of the kit I suggested...
OEM? just dampers or the whole set up? where can i get these from (bearing in mind i want to spend as little as poss, i was thinking just the front two dampers??)
ALL (4) dampers will be shot.
found out it is shock absorber that is completely sh@@ged! still want whole car lowered so that tyres (upgraded to 16" rims) look like they sit neatly under. already lowered by springs 40mm. what is relatively cheap kit that will do this (do i need new shock's all round if i do, or will standard one from dealer be ok??)
Regards
FK's are cheap and good (so far)

Shocks from a Seat dealer will be no good with 40mm lowering springs.
Get the shocks that are designed to be used with the springs you've got. The ride & handling will improve, and you won't be on here in a few months time saying you've f*cked shocks again!
Change all 4 shocks for uprated ones. You WILL notice a difference!
