sounds like it's needing new HT leads tho

worth checking & replacing as similar to a fault i've seen where under load it fails

It may be going into safe mode at the ECU to prevent breaking anything.

What car is it: Leon, beeza, cordy...

get it to any VW specialist (or SEAT) who can plug it in & do a diagnostics check

some do it for free, some charge £15 or so

that'll interogate teh ECU & tell you if any sensors are down

Timmy,
Check the ends of the leads, the chunky bits with the metal sleeving that go over the spark plugs. I had a similar problem on my 8v Gti beezer a few years ago, it turned out that the lead was shorting on the metal sleeve which was in turn shorting on the engine block, therefore causing a mis-fire. I found the culprit lead and replaced the end only, think it only cost a tenner or so for a new end. I did take the metal sleeve off and ran it fine for a week or so while Seat waited for the part to come in too.
Cheers.
Rob.

It should definitely rev higher than that. Mine will go up to 6250 or wherever the limiter is relaticely easily, although there's little point as that's beyond the maximum power.
