Is there any difference in the red thats in most seats and the blue thats in most other cars? Just as I am planning on replacing mine soon.

early vag used the blue stuff ,later more modern engine use the red/pink g12 stuff.

i think its soemthing to do with different metals used in the engines,don't quote me on that one but i have this inkling in my nogging saying its due to this,ally or cast iron i think

yeah, the dealer i got my lcr from made a specific point that it should be PINK PINK PINK, even if you don't end up with seat/vag authentic stuff... must be some truth in it..

The pink stuff (G12) is non-organic & is supposed to last the life of the car. It also dissolves copper!
The blue stuff (G11) needs to be changed at intervals.

The two cannot be mixed otherwise they lose their properties.

Thanks for the help everyone. I found this G12 stuff at halfords. Couldnt find how to drain the system, but a pair of plyers soon took off the hose :P
