I'm tempted by one of these to replace the Aura HU in my Leon:

Any views / experience of this one? Any modifications required to fit it?

The HU's colours appear to complement the interior ok ie red display, black fascia.

I have the woodstock DAB 52 in the porker. Its a good stereo but i have found that it get very very hot, and that when using MP3 disks it tend to badly skip tracks especially when it gets hot and the disks get hot. Its better with standard CDs. The DAB reception is great and i use it quite a bit. But sometimes whenin the Porsche i need to hear metallica and its on a compelation MP3 disk!!.

There is a new DAB 54 out which looks very nice.

One thing i do need is new speakers as they are starting to get very tired.

Que ICE MAN . :D

How much air space is there round the HU in the porker? Most HU's with any decent power will get hot if there's no where for the heat to go...

What size speakers and budget? Ask on ICECavern as well mate, I need some more class on the site :D And I miss posts in here somehow

THers is actuall quite a bit of spance rount the HU. Much more than the Ibiza. Most cars the HU is crammed in.

I am not sure of the sizes. Its got the 10 speaker upgrade pack.

I cant remember the sizes, i think its 6 1/2" 2 1/2" + tweeter, but might be totally wrong(infact prob am!!)

Is there a standard harness for the blaupunkt HUs?

I am looking at the Blaupunkt BREMENMP74 and need to know if i need an install cage and harness adaptor for my mk4 ibiza?

cheers.

I used the cage that came with the headunit - seemed to be quite a snug fit in the hole that was left. The harness I think was an audioleads one - available from your local halfords.

As far as I know Blaupunkt head units use a standard ISO connector. The mk4 Ibiza also uses a standard ISO wiring harness, although you might have to swap pins 4 & 7 over (permanent 12v and ignition-switched 12v). My head unit (not Blaupunkt) came with a wiring extender with bullet connectors to let you swap these over easily.

So you shouldn't need a harness adaptor at all, and I would think the Blaupunkt will come with its own cage - so you should be sorted.

I know this may be a stupid question but has anyone ever had a HU and cd changer stolen from there car?

I ask because I am wondering if the insurance company will give me the cash for the value of the goods nicked from my car or actual replacements.

Anyone know how elephant work?

cheers.

mines a blaupunkt london(iirc)does get bloody hot,and skips after a while as slim states.
mine is below the air vents for the air con,and that doesn't help even with it on cold.

Would this help the overheating problem? Not sure how, but it does mention it in the write up:

Nope that's complete boll**... A wiring adapter can't stop the HU getting hot... lol

In that case, is the problem caused by the laser having to "work harder" to detect the data on the MP3 encoded CD?

I'm considering the same HU as Jacknelle, but also:

Or do the speakers first??? I thought components from Alpine or Infinity.

HELP!!!

Check the post time, its keeping me awake... :sleepy:

Some HU's get hot because they work harder. Depends how hard you work the amp inside it etc. My HU is super cool, but that's because it doesn't have a built in amp, and I've even taken the preouts off. It's just a digital out and control for the EQ. :D

Oh and to answer your question. Sort the HU first. Changing the speakers with the standard HU is a waste of time and money.

I have a Blaupunkt DAB 52 as well and it was in my Beezer. I just cut the shrouding for the stereo part of the loom, snipped the switched and permanent 12v lines and fitted bullets so I could swap them for the Blaupunkt and then back again for the sh!tty Aura or whatever it was when I sold the car.

I haven't noticed mine skipping but then I never use the MP3 on CD feature as I have my iPod attached to the line-in on it.

When all my Alpine kit was stolen from my wife's Golf a few years ago we got cash. About 1/4 of what it was worth. Apparently CD's depreciate...

Thanks very much for that. The bit I was worried about was the blue being too bright in a red lit cockpit, but its OK.

Thanks again

just after getting my toledo, and instantly whacked out the Aura, just didn't like the look of feel of it when i took one for a test drive, not sure of the point of having a slot in cd HU with a 6 changer in the glove box.....

so got myself one of the Dension DH100ix, absolutely fantastic piece of kit, got the 40gb one from Dabs, loaded it up with my MP3's (8326) and all i need now is the facia panel to go around it :( ordered it from Car Audio Direct over a week ago and its still not arrived!!!!!). Solved the problem with a bit of modding because Seat have a funny aerial connector, this was done by using one from an old VCR lead and shaving off the plastic, worked a treat.

the best thing about the Dension, is that you can customise it to your car, 16+ colour for its LCD display, absolutely cracker, you also can customise your startup logo. I'll post these once i get the panel.

Must say i love my Toledo, and all that I ahve to do, is now choose a set of wheels and get it Revo'd and i am one happy camper.

Funny aeriel connector? It's a standard connector used in most of the VAG range at least you just need one of these...

You can pick one up at any halfords or car audio shop. Most HU's come with one anyway but I've noticed one or two people haven't when theve bought one recently. Cost cutting to the extreme really.

My Dension DH100ix has the ability to use a CD changer via a standard Sanyo DIN socket, my first question is, and i know its been asked on the forums before (a lot of times), but is it possible to get a Pin Out of stock Toledo (Aura) CD Changer, and modify this to fit into a DIN socket? I had a quick look, but i think on the Aura there is more wires. But this being the case, will the following Kenwood CD Changer (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=180&tab=1) be compatible with my Dension? Don't want to have a system where I can't be flexible, since there is nothing else that i would want to stick in my glove box.1
