On the A5 just south of Weedon (handbrake turn & chased)

I also saw my first one in the flesh at the weekend in Germany - looked nice I agree, these things are usually different in the flesh to the pictures we see of them. Guess we'll soon be seeing a lot more of them on the roads.
Look forward to Tuesday can have a proper look round one. :)

As I said to m0rk whilst I was on holiday, I popped into a spanish SEAT dealer trying to get info on a certain (undisclosed model), and they had a few Alteas there.. I said it looked better in the flesh than in the pictures -that is in blue.. the dark grey didn't look as nice
Agreed - very tall though
this one was bright red - nice & sunny too, so it made it look bright
I saw a grey one (could be silver, it was dark) on the A45 Westbound going past Barclaycard...looked tall, but not too shabby :)
Cant wait to see the new Leon , imagine it will look very like the Altea only lower. Think it comes out next year .

Sunday was the 3rd leg of Turkish SEAT CupraR championship..I was there and they demonstrated Alteas. They let people to test drive but I did not (because of time limitation)
Altea seems nicer than the photos. But it's certainly smaller than C-max, Touran and Scenic II. I think that Altea is an alternative to Golf V but not to the other MPVs. 1.6 reference is about 18,5 K euros here; which is 2-3K cheaper than touran 1.6 102 hp.
If they'd put 1.6 FSI, I would order one. But I think, in 2004, no civil person won't buy a 8V engine to this money and I think they must stop producing this engine..
1.9 105 hp Tdi stylance is just 25K euros which is expensive to me..C-max 1.6 TDci is 2K cheaper than altea 1.9 Tdi and C-max is better and bigger as well
for those who are interested in the final design of the new leon -> see attachments. the design ist from the year 2002 and the pictures are much to detailled to be fakes.
Attachements removed as we dont own the copyright on these.
However, there is already a thread on the next Leon here:-

and this includes links to the pics which were attached.

i thnk they look bloody good!! much nicer than c-max!!!
I've seen one today, at a local exhibition. It was a 1.6 L Reference model. Unlike the other reference models of SEAT i've seen before, it was more luxurious. For instance, CD player with 8 speakers was installed and there was a small section for sunglasses. As far as i rememember, it had traction control as well. By the way, shifting the gear was esier and smoother than my Toledo. Overall, I do like the Altea. I will buy a Stylance 2.0 TDI DSG, if i find some money ;) it costs 28900 Euros. Reference model with 1.6 L petrol engine costs 18470 Euros. These numbers are for Turkey, including all taxes.

i aint seen them in the flesh, they look pretty nice they, have to wait till they come to the dealers.
I drove the 2.0 TDi last weekend, and it is a pleasure to drive... I have driven quite a few SPV style cars, and must say, this one handleed really well, and the seats were the best... Thsi was the Sport-UP, and it had better seats than my leather Leon Cupra from end last year... My girlfriend wants me to get one, but I think I'll wait till they finally decide to put a 3.2FSI (Bi-Turbo) in there... THEN IT's MINE!!!! Very nice ride though... Just not a boys-toy... and that's what I want... Not old enough for that yet...

Auto-express guys say both TDi engines are loudy, they also say SEAT's own engineers accept that Peugeot diesels are better than VW's TDis.Auto express guys offer 2.0 FSI petrol   .
