had a thought and wondering if anyone has done this and would it improve efficiency. In the lower left hand side of the bumper where the inlet for the turbo intercooler is it seems this could be widened to remove the remaining plastic.

Am I right to assume this would in turn improve the cooling effect of the intercooler as more air would enter or no affect at all.

thoughts

Same on the Ibiza, its hidden behind the drivers side front foglight. Not the best place for cool air flow i would say!

have you measured the inlet temps to see how it performs as std?

the MK3 tdi has a special duct and specific holes in the lower front bumper skirt.

Luckily i don't see any way of improving that one.

in leon it seems they simply cut out the piece of the bumper but not the entire hole so it got me thinking would enlarging the hole improve performance of the cooler since it would allow more air to enter it

fair enough.. might well improve, but not by anything noticeable i would imagine.

Agree. I doubt you would notice a lot. Diesels don't suffer from heat soak as much as petrols, so the standard set up is more than sufficient.

You will notice a slight difference at the top end. IC arch vent thread is here:

I wouldn't due it unless your highly modified (runing high boost).
