Alana head unit on mk4 Ibiza

The CD changer port on the back of the Alana looks like a standard 20-pin jobbie. So some of the pins (normally pins 18,19 & 20) must be used for the line-in signal from the changer.

Question is, will the Alana play whatever signal it's given on the line-in, or does it need to be fooled into thinking there's actually a CD changer there?

Anyone tried this?

I think most people interested in using an Aux input would swap out the head unit. The ONLY good thing that can be said about the Alana unit in the MK4 ibiza is that the radio signal always seems to be strong. The internal amp is awful. Its the work of 5 mins and less that £100 to fit a reasonable unit with an Aux input. I really would suggest you change the unit.

All that said. I should think it must be possible to trick the unit into playing stuff from an external source.

The first thing I did to my Ibiza when i got it home was to rip out the Alana and change it for a semi-decent one.

Sorry, I can't help...try ICE Cavern and see what they say.
