Dont shoot me down in flames if I am being dull but can you a dump valve for a ibiza tdi 130

I havent put one on my scooby as they can damage the MAF sensor and plus it would prob do my head in after a while and it's a bit max power cheap and nasty.

Why don't you just shout "whoosh!" when you change gears? That way you get all the fun without the embarassment :)

Not only should you not do it. But the 130 doesn't require one as it has a variable vane turbo which negates the need of one.

If you want the woosh sound just replace you exhaust, with CAT-back straight tubing. You'll get the woosh through the exhaust. Not as loud though.

most diesels dont need a dump valve because there is no throttling on the intake manifold so as the turbo is spooling down ie like when you change gear all the boost still goes through the engine so the turbo doesnt slow down/stall like it would on a petrol engine. The VVt just alters the angle of the exhaust gasses hitting the turbo so it spins up to speed a lot quicker. or so I have always belived anyway

Not only that. it's also used to control boost pressure once the turbo gets to a constant rpm level.

stops the turbo spinning to death then.

basically besides the quicker spool up it acts as a wastegate.

I've noticed on my Leon TDI 150 that when accelerating hard and changing gear you get a whoosh as standard. Anyone else noticed this???

Yep its common with the higher boost pressure on the 150's and modded 130's ;)

And PD's tend to whistle a bit anyhow

Can you make out the tune? :roflmao: Perhaps we could hum along.

yeah the tune is a bit repetative though ;) seems to rise and then level out then drop and rise again LOL
