Isn't the gti chain driven anyway?

Have a search on the Peugeot forums if no luck here but I'm sure it's chain as the cooper s is and there the same engine

yeah it is a chain but im sure they still have a change interval on them, though much longer than the belts

try 207oc.com
test drove a few GTis and GTs
both the 1.6thp engine and both are very quick as i was looking to buy one
sadly has been alot of horror storys with timing issues, dispite it being a chain driven engine seems the chain has a tendancy to slip causing massive problems!

i ended up buying the 1.6 VTI to replace my Ibiza with mainly because it was so cheap
plus insurance and monthly costs are about half what i payed for the ibiza!

anyways the THP engine same kinda think as the MK5 Ibiza FR and Cupra, same engine just diffrent software to acheive diffrent power levels.
it is the same engine in the Mini Cooper, the 1.6 THP and VTI engines wer both co developed with BMW and PSA.

plus you can have them mapped remotly so you dont need to take it to a tuning place. can do it yourself with a laptop :)

I looked at the 207gti a while back but the 5 speed box put me off along with it being a weighty car. Sound fruity though. Think the 1.6 mini/pug engine is 1 of the best sounding 4pots around

must admit the gearbox isnt fantastic,
a common mod for the gti is a longer 5th gear which helps on the motorway.

but you can get a 207 CC with a 6 speed box
