I Have Just Brought A New Cupra R, I Have Been Told It Is Best To 'run In' And To Have An Oil Change At 1000 Miles.is This Right? If There Is Any Other Tips Anyone May Have For Me Please Let Me Know, I Am Like A Kid At The Mo, I Just Can't Wait......
Cheers Andy
Most people agree that you should be genttle with the car for the first 1000 or so althogh some say you should rag it from new.
The one we all agree on though is to let the car warm up properly before you give it some stick. Oil pressure needs to be high enough to prperly lubricate the tubo shaft else you could cause damage.
My advice would be to keep it under 3000 rpm or so for the first 500 and then under 4000 till 1000.
Also keep in mind that the brakes will take about 200 miles to bed in properly so don't over use them from new.
have fun

...And To Have An Oil Change At 1000 Miles.is This Right?
No straight through to 10,000miles
But that doesn't mean you don't check it and top up where necessary.

Yes my other tip is leave this Forum ASAP, otherwise for every penny these lovely people save you with hints, tips etc. you'll spend twice that on modifications.
First it will be a Fabia rear wiper for £20....then it will be Chips, Intercoolers and induction Kits, then Trackdays and Rolling road sessions....
Go now while you have a chance....(always swore I would keep my car standard  )
Most manufacturers (Including Seat) just put normal oil in the engine from new, and say that you don't need to change it for 10k miles or so. However, speaking to engine specialists, such as Autotechniks, they still advise that it would be best to use special running in oil for a couple of hundred miles, and then change for a semi-synth, and change again at 5k miles, and then maybe onto a fully synth at 10k miles.
They also said that you shouldn't drive it to carefully, but don't rag it either. Driving it too carefully can result in bore-glazing or something I think he said, and to agreesively will shag it.
Also, it is better to do oil changes more regularly than the manufacturer recommends. If you drive conservatively then 10k oil changes may be ok, but if you like a little fun then maybe every 5k would be better, and if you do regular trackdays then you may even want to change it every 3.3k like I do!!!
My girlfriends Renault Clio has a oil change interval of 20k miles... which is madness.

AGREED!! First I had never used a forum before and I was on here a few times a week, then a few more, then pretty much every fu**ing day, your plans for the evening go out the window, you get shouted at for being on your pc all the time....
Next is indeed the modifications, I'm still in the early stages of this phase but I can see the slope dipping away in front of me. The fact I am now trying to organise a group buy for REVO say's it all...... :runaway:
