View Full Version : 'View Readiness' using VAG-COM

I have recently had many problems with Lambda sensors on my car and my engine warning light coming on. These created many errors on my ECU all read by VAG-COM.
I believe the problem now to be fixed (finally) by the SEAT dealer as the codes no longer appear (they would normally re-appear after a few minutes of being reset).
BUT when I do use the VAG-COM 'View readiness' check I get two 'Failed' errors come up both I believe relate to the Lambda sensors, I had seen them before but assumed they were to do with the problems on my car and the other sensor errors I was experiencing. Unfortunately from memory I can't remember exactly which ones they were but I believe them to be 'Catalytic Converter(s)' and 'Oxygen Sensor(s)'.
Is it normal for these to fail on the Leon? If not is it possible that the garage have somehow managed to stop the errors coming up on the ECU but have not actually solved the problem... or even fooled the ECU into thinking there are no error codes to report? (This is the 6th time the car has gone into the garage over these problems).

did they look like these i had a MIL light come on this weekend.
17524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B1 S1: Open Circuit
P1116 - 35-00 - -
16518 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: No Activity
P0134 - 35-00 - -
i will have to have a look when it stops raining.

Hi,
Nope they were different to that. They were:
17511 P1103 - 35-00 - Oxygen O2 Sensor Heating Circuit: Bank 1 – Sensor 1 Output too Low
16519 P0135 - 35-00 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit: Bank 1 – Sensor 1 Malfunction
16514 P0130 - 35-00 - O2 Sensor Circuit: Bank 1 – Sensor 1 Malfunction
I don't see these anymore since the car has been into the garage. I think they checked through all the earth points and cleaned them up, which seems to have done the job. I just want to check that this VAG-COM readiness fault isn't something to worry about!

Just checked the car again and it is now showing as everything READY in the VAG-COM view readiness test.
But now I am seeing my usual Lambda sensor fault code once more. The only strange thing is that it has taken a few weeks to reappear as normally it appears the same day as clearing the codes! Maybe it was because the battery was completely disconnected? Or maybe it has only appeared now as yesterday was the only time I have driven the car in the rain since the codes were re-set? Just a thought?
Here is the first fault which always comes up after clearing the codes:
17511 P1103 - 35-00 - Oxygen O2 Sensor Heating Circuit: Bank 1 – Sensor 1 Output too Low
I have had these problems for a long time now and I just want them solved! The car has been into the garage for a total of 8 times, sometimes for 2 or 3 days in order to solve this problem. So far I have had both lambda sensors replaced, all the earth points on the car checked. The next step the garage says is to replace the ECU. I am not seeing any warning light as yet but I can almost guarantee that I will get the remaining two codes as posted above and a warning light pretty soon. :thumbd:
Bum. Sorry to hear that nick. Suppose it could be a duff ECU tho? It does happen..

Yeah, I will wait until I get some more errors back and possibly the engine warning light and give the SEAT garage a call at which point they will order a new ECU in. I hope this sorts the problem out. After all it is possible that although I don't notice anything wrong with the car that this problem is actually causing the car to be slower than it should be, or use more fuel or even be killing my cat!
I don't mind when a garage is honest with me like the current one and tell you what they have and haven't done. It is when they start fobbing you off with excuses that really annoys me.

Wiring connection to ECU is'nt unheard of.
Disconnect and reconnect can fix it.

I think I will leave the garage to do this for me, cheers Bill! I bet it all stems from my pollen filter water leak which caused a HUGE puddle in the rear passenger side footwell.
