View Full Version : What's the MPG like in a Leon Cupra driven hard?
Hi
What're people getting MPG wise from their Leon Cupras?
------------------
it's all relative to the amount of right foot
we have people ranging from 19 mpg to 33 mpg

Thanks for the reply. I get 20 from my 245bhp Impreza Turbo. Maybe the Leon isn't the way forward after all - less performance and similar MPG...

Well my car is still fairly new (2,500 miles just over a month old), so the MPG should get slightly better as the engine is still tight.
I drive it fairly hard (Not excessively, using nearly all the revs in the lower gears and sitting at 90 on the motorway.. The last time I checked I was getting 29.9 mpg, which isn't too bad as the brochure states a combined figure of 33.2..
Whoever is getting 19mpg out of their Leon must be really thrashing it something chronic - I don't think I could get an MPG that low out of a 1.8 car if I tried!

the lowest mpg i have ever had after giving the leon a hard time, was about 26 mpg

That's much better news - thanks guys.
I really don't like the look of the new WRX and am looking for a change after 7.5 years of Impreza Turbos. I find it really hard to get more than 22mpg from the Turbo, virtually no matter how "easily" I drive it.
Tremendous performance, grip, fun, reliability etc etc, but not for me in the pig ugly replacement (WRX) I'm afraid.
Thanks againl.

My Leon TDi gets 39mph in real hard driving, 42 in normal hard driving and 46+ in normal brisk driving http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Neil - you lucky sod!, far better than the old leon cupra.

39 mph ?!?!?!? I knew diesels were slow, but... actually 110 bhp, chipped (Wetterauer anyone? (http://www.wetterauer.de)) would be outrageously fast in the mid range, if you're not really into burn outs so much as fast roads. Not quite as good for handbraking on council estates though.

Just did a full tank of "normal" driving (No thashing) in my Leon 20VT... Got 31½mpg.. Not bad seeing as it only has 2,700 miles on the clock - the engine should stil loosen up quite a bit.
Stevo.
Just got to 3000 miles from new. Average mpg from new is 30.
The best average i've had on a single tank is 34. That involved no 'Motorway' driving.
I've noticed no difference in mpg between standard and super unleaded fuel.
Do you mean the V6 Cupra or the 20VT Cupra?
Anyhow, my 20VT takes about 13-15 liters /100km, when driven hard. Actually it always takes 13-15 liters /100km…
