Does/has anyone removed the front door mounted speakers from their new type Arosa?
I am going to change the front speakers as I have fitted a sub and 6X9's in the rear parcel shelf and need something a bit beefier in the front.
I don't want to damage the grilles and any feedback would be nice.

I pulled my o/e speakers out. pain in the arse job because there pot rivited into the doors. I left the original grills in so they didn't draw attention to themselves. Managed to squeeze a set of 6.5" JL components under the grills took some time to cut the MDF rings out.
Just disconnected the original tweeters as they are a pain in the arse to remove and the JL provide enough top end to be happy with.
Good Luck with the chage over>

Are the tweeters in the Arosa at the bottom of the A-Pillar?
How the hell do you change them???? I cant seem to see how you can get at them in me Lupo without getting the whole dash out???

yes they are!!
Seems to be a major job to get them changed, I even tried getting at them from underneath, without hiring an octopus, or somebody with long thin arms seems to be imposible.
i think the easiest way to get the tweeters out is a windscreen out job!!! They have plastic clips that hold them in which can be seen when the windscreen is out. Too k the oppurtunity when the glass was being replaced after a country lane thrash broke it.

Hmm....looks like I'll be keeping the standard speakers in...
I don't like removing the dash (or anyone removing the dash). My sister drove an Arosa 16v where the dash had been removed (by SEAT) to replace the carpet because there had been the dreaded "water leak".
It *wobbled* and *moved* - not good at all.
So I think I'll just keep me standard tweeters in :)

mmmmm i can get em out quicker if they are riveted , screws take too long , mind you i got a BIG HAMMER just in case
I had to use an irish screwdriver in the end!
:p
Is this the same for the older shape arosa as its something id like to replace in the near future but ive never actually looked to see how difficult it would be?

Got my door speakers fitted at the weekend
Bit of a pig getting the rivets out, used drill, long nosed pliers, centre punch and BIG hammer!!!
I made up a couple of MDF rings to move speakers away from door and glass. Left the existing speaker grills (stealth)
What a difference in the sound department!!
well worth the effort.:D
cheers for the incentive boys!!
There is areal marked difference in sound i can testify to that. Did you leave the tweeters wired in or not?

i left them wired in, although i think i will be disconnecting them, it sounds a bit too much with the additional ones in the door speakers.
Still to adjust my amp and fade/set-up properly, work has been getting in the way!!
Still sounds marvellous though!!:D :D :D

Update on the Tweeters for those who don't visit me site :)
You can get them out by (carefully!) using a flat bladed screwdriver to flip the grille off.
The tweeters are "melted" or glued to the grille, so you have to (carefully!) break them out. Disconnect them, and you can fit the tweeters of your choice.
Be warned that if you fit the standard 1" Tweeters, because the OEM tweeters are smaller than that, in most cases you can't get the grill back on ....
If anyone would care to try it before I ruin my car ;) I'd be most greatful!
