As Volkswagen is rearringing all techical information for electronic systems, it has announced to make most of this information available to free workshops and car owners. The electronic repair- and workshop-information-system is supposed to take the place of the printed information that have been offered to the free workshops up to now. erWin is a reduced version of the system ELSA which is only available to the VW-distributing-organisation. By means of erWin workshops and car owners are able to use the service and repair-information of all vehicle types as of 1986. Also the data for new vehicle-types is available immediately.
You can either get the data from erWin on CD-ROM or by download from . The prices are 4$ for a self study booklet, 17$ for a workshop manual, 75$ for a complete folder. Workshops, which buy the CD-ROM with four updates per year, may choose between the complete data
for a vehicle-type or the data for special components ( engine, gear-transmission, chassis etc.) of all vehicle types. The information for one vehicle type (all years of construction) is supposed to cost about 1000 DM per year. If you use erWin online, you will only pay for the information you can actually require.
Since most of SEAT hardware is the same as Volkswagen, most of the data is good for us too!!!
