Hi

Does anyone know what differences there are between the current 2001 Leon Cupras and any revised model for 2002MY?

Thanks

All currently supplied cars are 2002my and include uprated torque from the 2001 model and have seat sort exhausts.

uprated torque, how much up by?, how did they improve that torque?

i enquired with my dealer, about the new exhaust on leon and he said only difference was sound of car, no change to power and torque, he phoned seat uk for info.

could someone explain the conflicting storys?

The torque was uprated by about 25lb ft in the latest models via engine management changes.

With reference to the exhaust the official line is that all 2002 leons now come with a seat sport exhaust similar to the typr r ibiza which also gives a better sound, this may have also been part of getting more torque

Swinny,

Do I assume a car I saw in a showroom in July, will not be a 2002 model?

Friendly NG this.

Hi,

Received this from Seat customer care.No change to torque figures it seems. But exhaust is different. Switchable tcs is still on, I'd read somewhere on here that it was no longer switchable.

Dear Biff

Thank you for your e-mail dated 4th October 2001 regarding the SEAT Leon
Cupra 20VT. We apologise for our oversight in not sending our response
immediately. We now have the opportunity to reply to your e-mail of today
asking two further questions regarding the exhaust and torque rating.

We can assure you that the MY02 vehicle you have ordered is fitted with the
switchable traction control system, this being one of many superb features
in the SEAT Leon.
The exhaust has though been changed but the torque remains at the same
rating as previous.

We know you will thoroughly enjoy driving this vehicle.

Once again we apologise for the delay in replying to your correspondence.

Yours sincerely

Checked our info at some stage the LEON cupra did change from 203nm to 235nm of torque though this may not have been at the same time of the 2002 model introduction.

Want to know if you have a 2002 my car - then check chassis number 1R = 2001 2R = 2002 this code appears just before last six numbers

Swinny ~ this sounds like a typo http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

AFAIK the Leon has always been quoted as 173lbs.ft (235nm).
