Looks like Toyo have launched a new Ultra high performance tyre. Looks like it might be more track orientated.

Not much more info as yet..

Like "none" that I can find.

Looks interesting though.... I suspect it's a replacement for the T1-S (?)

Found the following current offer on the US webby though....

Buy a set of eligible Toyo tires and try them on your car for up to 500 miles. If you're not completely satisfied with the performance of the tires, just return them to the dealer where you purchased them for a full refund or replacement. The choice of refund or replacement is yours. Visit your Toyo dealer for complete details.

 Great idea ~ specially for trackday use ;)

Too many cuts for a track day tyre? Looks similar to the T-1S so would tend to think along the lines of mik

Depends on the tread depth, but yes they have quite alot of cuts, but i think they are getting sold along side the T1-S so it must have other properties, and the R designation obviously makes me think its more sport orientated.

As long as they are still good value then great.

Saying that if Kumho did the KU15 in my sizes then that where my money would be going.

Blocks on shoulders don't look like they'd hold up to hard cornering loads too well to me - there's very little rubber behind them so i'd imagine thiey'll just flex about all over the place and generally get hot. And when tread blocks get hot, they generally either wear dead fast or in extreme cases, just give up the ghost and part company with the rest of the tyre...

Probably fine for fast road use where you tend to spend much of the time going in a straight(ish) line, but my gut feeling is that these wouldn't hold up too well to track use where you tend to spend a comparatively higher proportion of your time cornering at speed.

Will send Toyo an email and see what they have to say about them. Wonder what price they will be coming in at.

A ha, looks like the T1-Rs will replace the S.

Toyo Quote

That's what's happened with the new Proxes T1-R, the new, natural choice for enthusiastic drivers. The Proxes T1-R boasts a special performance compound and tread pattern which gives incredible road holding in all conditions, especially in the wet. The V-shaped grooves in the tread pump water away allowing the rubber to grip the road.

These are bounded by circumferential grooves which allow the Proxes T1-R to give you even better wet grip whilst being quieter and longer lasting as well. And, whilst practical, these design elements also makes the tyre look spectacular on any car.
The Proxes T1-R is introduced in a range of the most popular high performance sizes.
It will increasingly cover more sizes from 14" up to 20" and beyond as further sizes are added.
Proxes T1-R will gradually replace the Proxes T1-S to be the ultimate tyre for performance use.

And they have now introduced this..

No doubt it will be on the pricy side, but if you are runnig a weekend car then why not..

Saw that (888) yesterday. Looks [B)] but (like the Kumho KU15) not available in your size.

I think he RA-1 is however (road legal race tyre Treadwear rating 40 (!) ). Can you get them in UK?

THe R888 is just out, but not sure it will ever be in my size, maybe its time to move on to the 17" rims...

Mmmm so they will wear about 6 times faster than the T1-S. Deep pockets required!!

There is mixed reviews on the RA-1 on the Porsche Forum in the US. They seem to get alot of tyres (sorry tires) that we dont. Quite a few American brands.

Yes noticed that, but i bet they are a good bit cheaper than the Dunlops.

Mind really are onl ysuitable for the track, they will be soooo soft and have a 5mm tread to start with, so only 3mm usable tread, bet that will only last about 1000miles...

Not sure I understand why having the solid band near the edges instead of extending the groves right out the side of the tyre (like in the T1-S) helps get the water out... I would have thought that would stop the water getting kicked out... but hey they probably know more about it than me! [B)]

Does look ok... but still think the T1-S looks more [B)] though

hmmm... F1's or T1-R's

Most likely, with the improved map from APR on his LCR. Wait until I have my 340BHP Stage 3, then we'll rock! ;)
