Well Jonah

Is yours a 225 or 180hp car? The intercooler kit will be 750 plus the VAT. This is a complete kit with all the proper engineered pieces. The intercooler itself has many hours of engineering time in it. Here is a brief write up on it.

APR is please to present our front mounted intercooler for 1.8T. The construction and advanced design techniques used in the APR intercooler sets ours apart from all the others on the market. Utilizing such technologies as a top-bottom feed core, custom mandrel bent plumbing, and innovative cast endtanks with internal vaning, our intercooler has produced excellent results in testing.

The conditions of one test that was performed is as follows: at 20 psi of pressure with a vehicle speed of 70 mph, and an elevation of approximately 500 feet above sea level. Under these conditions the internal flow was measured at 720cfm. Also at those conditions, with an input temp of 240º F, the intercooler was quite effective; cooling the output air to 126º F. While doing this, the intercooler measured a pressure drop of only .58 psi.

Equally as impressive with the APR intercooler was the external pressure drop (the amount of air pressure behind the intercooler) of only 1.01 psi. This helps to allow airflow to other critical parts of the car such as the radiator and A/C condenser. While the internal pressure drop is important, the external pressure drop is often overlooked. Most other intercoolers commonly cause 1.5 to 2.0 pounds of pressure drop, hindering the radiator from effectively doing its job of cooling the engine.

The highlights of the APR Intercooler kit include the following:

APR Cast End Tanks with Internal Vaning
Top-Bottom Feed Extruded Aluminum Core
Mandrel-Bent, Powdercoated Stainless Steel Plumbing
APR Custom Silicone Intake Hoses
All Associated Bracketry and Hardware

The turbo kits are coming....there will be three options........
for the non 225 cars you can start with the K04 option........up to 260hp
There will be a stg 3 and 3+
Stg 3 is 290hp
Stg 3+ is 340hp

We look forward to a busy schedule ahead!!

Will the FMIC fit behind an MY03+ Cupra bumper without trimming?

StephenAPR

The front mounts use a very cool core. It is not the thinest in the world but we chose this size due to the needs of the 1.8T engines. The kits for all the cars golf/bora/leon/octavia etc all require different amounts of trimming. We have tried at all places to minimize this. One example is on the Golfs, we recomend the 20/337 front bumper lip to make the install easier/cleaner. So yes it will require a small amount but this should be easy to handle for the shop doing the fitting.

Thanks Stephen i may well be interested in the future as i'm going for an IHI conversion which is basically a larger turbo with relatively low pressure but high flowrate.

Hi Stephen

Just a quick question the answer is probably already out there I'm just too lazy to look :D

I've got a leon cupra with cruise. So if I had my car remapped by your DirectPort Programming method, would I be able to use the cruise stalk to change maps etc? Or does it looks this over the old EMCS method?

Hope thats not a stupid question.. but knowing me it probably is!:D

Thanks for that - mine is a 180 bhp car but it has been chipped by APR a couple of years ago. ANy idea as to the turbo upgrade prices yet? Will owners of an APR chipped car get a free remap which must be necessary with a turbo upgrade?

Ok guys let me take a stab at as many of your questions as I can.

RedLeon- The cruise control will handle all of your program switching. You may have up to 4 programs and 4 features on you DPP EMCS system.
Here is a brief write up on the system.....

Many of you are now familier with APR’s revolutionary patent pending Enhanced Modular Chipping System. EMCS allows a user to have multiple programs and options on their vehicles computer, ready to be changed through the buttons of the factory cruise control switch.

APR is now proud to make DirectPort Programming available to the public. DirectPort programming allows all of the same functionality of EMCS, but without ANY hardware. This system allows programs to uploaded to the engine ECU via the factory OBDII port. EMCS DirectPort makes the following advanced features possible:

Flip Switch: Using the cruise control buttons, you are able to switch between up to four separate ECU programs of your choice. Examples of possible chip programs include stock, octane specific performance and race programs, valet, etc...

Unique Access Code: A unique access code is used for the security lockout feature and anti-theft system. The user may select any 1 to 4-digit number to be used as their access code. The access code is entered using the cruise control buttons.

Security Lockout Feature: Prevents unauthorized personnel from accessing EMCS functions and changing the current EMCS configuration. The Security Lockout feature is available as a stand-alone option or bundled with the Anti-Theft system.

Anti-Theft System: This theft deterrent system prevents the car from being operated by unauthorized personnel, even if given the key. The engine will crank and idle, but will not accept throttle input. A thief, even if successful in getting the car to start, will have no power with which to drive away. The Anti-Theft System can only be deactivated by entering your unique access code. (Because of this, the Anti-Theft System includes the Security Lockout feature).

Fault-code Erase: Allows you to erase and reset engine related trouble codes without having to use a specialty tool.

Throttle-body Realignment: Allows you to manually perform throttle-body adaptation.

No EMCS Hardware Modules Required

DirectPort is the latest variation of EMCS. DirectPort allows all of the EMCS functions and features to be programmed to the car through the factory diagnostic port without the need for any additional hardware. Our system utilizes the flash reprogramming capabilities built into the factory Motronic engine management.

Programming via Web-Browser Interface

In order to program an ECU, an APR Authorized Distributor will connect your car with an OBDII cable to a computer with internet access. The dstributor then begins the DirectPort Programming process and uploads new software to you engine ECU. To our knowledge, APR’s revolutionary world wide web reprogramming interface is not only the first in our direct market, it is the first in the entire automotive aftermarket.

Full EMCS Functionality

True program switching, AntiTheft, etc. all operate via the cruise-control system in a similar fashion as to previous EMCS systems. No silly hardware dongles! Also, with EMCS, program switching overwrites the entire data segment of the engine management code (unlike inferior systems that interpolate between high and low tables.) This translates to mean the selected profile is fully optimized throughout the operating range.

Demonstration Software with Remote Activation

No hardware means software-only trials are now available. EMCS software can now be loaded onto your car and demonstrated for a set time period. If you decide to purchase the software, either before or after the end of the trail, the software can be “remotely” activated. By simply contacting an APR distributor and paying for the programs, you will then receive a secret code six digit code to permanently unlock the ECU through the cruise control switch.

DirectPort Programming is now available. To see if your car is ready to be DirectPort Programmed, contact your nearest APR distributor.

Jonah--We are looking at around 4,000 pounds fitted including VAT. The kit comes with the software needed. This is total engineered product. If you are a current APR customer and decide to get the kit you will recieve all the additional programs (valet, race etc.) for free.

Hope this helps guys,

Stephen/APR

Cheers Steven very interesting:D

I like the idea of being able to switch with the cruise and remote activation after your trial code has been blown on:)

So for £449+£39 = £488 inc VAT I could have a performance program and stock and security feature all switchable from the cruise stalk? :D

StephenAPR
16-06-2004, 14:21
The pricing for your car is as follows.....

449 for the system with one program

add 99 for the extra program

add 39 for the security

total would be =587 pounds+VAT

This would give you stock, chipped and security.

Hope this clears the pricing......
