Hi,

I am looking into where i can install a changer in my car and I have come to the conclusion that the boot is the safest location.

Can anyone tell me how to lift the bootliner carpet so that i can have a quick look and see if there is anywhere suitable for some screws without drilling my car.

and can anyone show me the best route to run cable from the HU to the boot?

I am assuming people have amps etc so i guess i can do the same cable route to the boot?

cheers.

OK, here's the procedure in some detail:
1) Get hold of carpet
2) Lift upwards
:p

Seriously though, fitting in the glovebox seems a common option on Mk4s, some dealers do it. There's a thread in the general "Ibiza" forum recently about CD changers, with pics of one in a glovebox.
I think you can only fit a 6 disc one in there, but it must be quite a bit easier than routing the cables to the back of the car.

I was thinking more in terms of the side wall liner

Has anyone fitted an amp into a mk4 ibiza yet?

if so some help with where you ran the cables would be great :worship:

It should simply be held in place with a load of clips.

The side wall liner is held on by screws that hold the shelf supports on. You'll see the black screws at the top of the carpet...undo those, fold the rear seats forward and you should be able to get it free (might need to do a couple of other things, but its all common sense really).

JP, my phonos run along the centre of the car, the power leads run along the near side and speaker leads along the off side. It's an interior and carpet out job if you want it done properly.

How did you cover these wires up?

I assume the wires you have for your amp setup are on top of the carpet?

if so did you just cover them up with tape or something?

cheers.

I stuffed the CD changer wires under the door sills. I've got a Córdoba, but I bet that's the easier way to do it in an Ibiza, too. Here some pics of my installation:

Thats exactly the way I installed my cd changer into my old cordoba but i just ran the cable through the cabin in that case and also attaching the cd changer onto the solid parcel shelf.

but my new ibiza has no solid parfcel shelf and i really dont know how to remove/fit the trim to run cables etc

It looks like i will just have to construct a box and bolt the changer inside this box and use velcro tape to stop it moving in the boot.

to secure this box i will use the isofix connections from the boot and use a bike chain or something similar to stop thieving scum holes from grabbing the box.

what you think?

this allows me to have a cd changer in the boot without drilling

JP taking the interior out is all common sense if you have the right tools. It did help having my mate there, who has been doing quality installs for years.

My wires are just taped up :)

any pics of the inside of the cabin?

I will only really have 1 cable for the cd changer so no big problem.

did you just use black electrical tape to secure the wires? i think i will just do this for ease. :-o

Down on the floorpan I secured them with Duck Tape.

I haven't got any pics I'm afraid, it was a hot day and we were eager to get some beers down us :)
