View Full Version : Recommendations on dealers - POST HERE!
OK, thought I'd try and do something positive.
If you are really happy with a dealer then simply fill out a post in this manner. Keep it short, also any negatives points as well like doesnt like imports (I want this to become the definitive dealer recommendation post not a negitive dealer bashing one).
Hopefully, this will become a usful thread for old and new members. If its not down on here, then tread carefully!
Feel free to duplicate dealers btw- most mentions mean a better dealer.
I'll start off
---------------------------
Amethyst (Cheltenham)
Excellent parts, service and advice, Most impressive dealer I've come across.
------------------------------
Richard Huzzey (Newbury)
Will provide Courtsey Car to owners who havent bough there car from them - This is unusal for Seat dealers
-----------------------------
This can include brokers importers etc (I'll let someone else post for Wim as I havent had any direct dealings)
---------------
NCT (Uterecht, Holland)
Excellent sales, advice on importing car. Equal cheapest with Wim. Kept me informed all the way. All docs including CoC ready when collected car. Also does other makes. webstite: www.nct.nl
-------------
Garneys and Hill (Ipswich/Bury St.Edmunds)
I bought from the Ipswich branch. The sales team were excellent, no messing around to get a good deal. The after care team are also excellent, very helpful and seem reasonably knowledgable. There Bury branch is new to Seat last year and were having a few teething problems which hopefully will be sorted now. I had a couple of problems due to this but the Ipswich branch sorted it straight away.
Definitely recommend them to anyone in the East Anglia region.
Jones of chelmesford- will provide courtesey car and on their insurance ( last time i used them anyway ). I put 2000 mile+ on their new leon ad i didnt buy from them!
And the usual Amethyst
Amethyst Rulez !!, best service and parts place around !, i drive 90 miles each way to get my service done by them, and they seem to be consistently cheaper than everyone else too!
Brought my Cordoba from Cornerhouse, very nice people and excellent service.
My primary dealer is still Amethyst (even tho 108 miles either way) tho :D with good reason too methinks!
just remembered this thread, thought I'd bring it back to the top!
Had a service at Richard Huzzey's yesterday. Very good service, had a courtsey car (which is rare) a Leon 1.6S which wasnt bad, although radio wouldnt work at first...so a repeat recommendation for Matty and all at Richard Huzzey's
No! Richardsons are still kings of the SEAT dealers, only place i've bought 2 cars from, my girlfriends bought 1 from and even my dear old ma.
Top service everytime - and the only place in somerset you get aftersales service!! (trust me i've bought from most of them! :D )
Agree - I used to drive 120 miles to richardsons - now I've moved I drive 120 miles to Amethyst

Richardsons for me too! think i know every inch of the 300 odd mile round trip now! :D
Best place ive found and i still call Paul up now and then to ask questions and hes always more than willing to help.
Sales staff seem good but ive heard they cant eat much pizza? :D
Livingstones of Uddingston.
Actually seemed interested in my business, and import-friendly to boot. :)
I don't understand why dealers have problems with imported car, because most of the profit is in servicing and repairs anyway.
Sorry Mr Whelme, you've just failed the interview process for this dealership.... I'm afraid S.Troppysods SEAT just isn't for you :o

I would also have to second the recommendation for the above garage. My hubby and I have used the garage for two years and they've been great on all accounts whether it be servicing, buying a car, pricing, warranty jobs etc. Can't fault them on anything...they're just too good. Would never go anywhere else!

SG Petch (Durham)
Great service so far. Did me a good deal on purchase, gave me a smashing time at Croft on a Track Day, and dealt with a duff coil in 45 mins, with no drama whatsoever.
SEAT Cheshunt - Herts - 01992 625166
I've received simply first class service on many occasions. Friendly family atmosphere.
Courtesy car (if available) or pick-up and deliver from home.
Car cleaned inside and out as standard practise whether Service or Warranty work done.
Seatcupra.net forums readers.
SEAT Cheshunt generously donated SEAT goodies for the Ward Fund Competitions. :D

SEAT Milton Keynes
Again, first class service.
Being a new franchise, eager to please. Nice friendly atmosphere.
Manager took time out to chat.
Courtesy car policy not known, I received a "While I Wait" Service!
Car hot steam cleaned as standard practise if serviced or repaired.
Seatcupra.net forums readers.
I'm going to tap them up for some SEAT goodies for the Ward Fund Competitions, I'm sure they'll respond favourably. :D

Richard Huzzey for me, good deal on new Leon Cupra (Platinum Grey), v good p/x on 1 year old Leon TDi SE (Black Magic).
Bending over backwards to find rattle in dash.
Thumbs down to Emmer Green Garage, told me 12 months ago Black Magic was going to be discontinued. Thinks they were trying to close the sales quickly, was going going to buy the car anyway so not sure why they told porkies!!!!!!
thought i would bring this thread to life seeing as lots of talk about dealers.

Great Covert Seat.
Friendly staff.
Making a real effort to keep customers informed of available orders / due service etc. Also plans afoot for major refurb and new servicing area to keep booking times right down.
Also only 800 yards from me so I guess that helps!!!
Cheers
Dor.
Holders of Congresbury.
Top dealer. Very helpful. Courtesy car for servicing and the offer of a pick up drop off service.
Recently changed service manager. Car's due for a service in a month or so. Will pass full judgement then.
Scott
Premiere Seat (Stoke)
Some of the best deals around on new cars.
Skimped quite a bit on the PDI of my Cupra though.
Holders sorted it out for me. :)
Scott
I second Premier Seat (Stoke), bought my cupra new there last year, best price from a dealer by miles.
Also skimped my PDI too though...
IMG SEAT- Warrington, cant be arsed going into the ins and outs as to why they are good, but they fix all problems no worrys hassle free. nuff said. laters.:)
SMC Exeter. Courtesy car no problem for both the missus and myself on their insurance even though neither car was bought from them (but why does she get a Leon TDi when she leaves a Mk2 Ibiza 1.4 and I got an Ibiza 1.2 for my Mk4 TDi Sport  ).
Usually they can accommodate at reasonably short notice (with a courtesy car, but it was a ropey P-plate Cordy one time).
They started to give me 10% off accessories without me asking.
They have the 2002 SEAT UK mechanic of the year on staff (apparently he had a good chance at the Euro finals until he went on the piss the night before - so I'm told) and he's judging this years compo.
No idea what they are like for sales, but let's face it we all just get the car from the cheapest place if it's new or are limited to whatever used stock anyone has if 2nd hand.
MKSeat have always given me a great service.
I had my 10k service done there (they gave me a courtesy Ibiza TDI 100 for the day) and they are also import friendly!
I went in there last Saturday with a knackered horn and the brake fluid needed topping up, they said 'please bear with us' as they had a few other people come in with problems.
But a bit of waiting and a quick chat to Chris, also trying to stop my daughter from demolishing the sales stands and my car came out with both of the above sorted and fully cleaned to boot.
Don't get me talking about those muppets at Marshalls in Bedford, they wouldn't even give me a courtesy car because I didn't buy my car from them, never mind if it was an import or not!

Ted Johnstons SEAT - Barnsley.
A relatively new SEAT dealer but IMO & With out a doubt they're the best around. Very friendly throughout, reception, sales, parts, and Technicians who have an interest in fixing the problem and not in breaking other things.
Always happy to help, even after my continual pestering..
=====
60 mile round trip to see them for me & worth ever one of them. Always asked if I need a curtesy car.
=====
Dont get me started on how bad I think JCT600 are.
-:grump: Not even touching em with a big pokey stick:yikes: -
Ted Johnson (Barnsley)
I'll second that.
They did my 10k/12month inspection service last October (at very short notice). Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. No problems with my car being an import. Free courtesy car (brand new Ibiza TDi100 with a full tank of fuel).
Last Tuesday my glove box jammed shut and they agreed to take a look the same day. Quick temporary fix got me sorted. Rang me on Thursday to say new catch had arrived and asked when was convenient for repair. Job done on Good Friday. Again, excellent service.
After reading some of the horror stories on here I can't tell you how pleased I am that this dealer is only 20 minutes away.
I wanna recomend Cheshunt - Dick the service manager is 2nd to none!!!
And would like to take this moment to absolutely NOT recomend Letchworth unless you want BED after sales service and your car DENTED (mine was dented twice by them!!!!)

Amethyst:
Contrary to everyone else on here I had a very poor service experience with them early this year. If you're interested - details on me website in ownership.
Barlows in Wolvo:
Excellent and efficient service (John is the man to speak to) - a fellow Arosa Sport owner :o)
Sales seems to be lacking nowadays, not such good deals and fewer demo cars and used cars.
All Electric in Halesowen:
New dealer that offeres excellent sales with good deals. They are still working out of a 'hut' as the dealership is on the site of the MG Rover franchise, and waiting for the SEAT one to be built. Because of this, servicing is not up to that of some other dealers (lack of SEAT knowledge & equip.)
Cheers, Ian.
Castlegate SEAT, Norwich
Darn fine dealer. No pushy sales, polite service staff, OK prices (suppose you get good service so you don't mind paying a little bit extra).
Even though they are the only SEAT dealer for miles, they don't play on it and abuse the situation.
Robert Bradford is a good chap (for sales).

I have to agree that Amethyst are no longer as excellent as they used to be.
I have now switched to Holders in Congresbury and have had excellent service from them so far.
MK SEAT are absolutely top notch. Not only are the staff friendly and helpful, they are also honest, hard working and will go out of their way to keep the customer happy.
I have never had a bad word to say about these guys as they are saints for what they do for me!
Thanks very much guys!

Westerham it is for me. Very friendly staff always available to stop to talk to you.
Bickets of Kilmarnock.
Very friendly, helpful and efficient.
Worth finding an excuse for being down their way if it helps me avoid Livingstones in Uddingston......

Yepo ... got to agree with that ... had my car from them and been back for servicing and no drama so far. Very friendly.
PS Mike I noticed a certain bronze cupra had been sold a few weeks back.
B & H Motors (Whitehaven, Cumbria)
Small family run dealership, run the way garages should be run.
You want to talk to the owner, knock on his door and go in.
You want to talk to the mechanic that will work on your car, they take you to meet him.
They sponser local schools sports teams and also the local rugby teams. (Putting something back into the community)
Nothing is ever too much trouble and finally for a small dealership they don't half knock out a sh1t load of cars. (Always a good sign)

WEST END MOTORS of BODMIN-CORNWALL
Cannot speak highly enough of this dealership. I am on my 3rd Leon Cupra; rejected last 2 due to numerous faults. Always did their upmost to fix the problems and always offered me a courtesy car(leon cupra and Ibiza 130bhp)whilst mine was off the road. They gave me their full support when rejecting both cars and made sure that I would remain a customer to the SEAT brand.
Manager is a Mr Allan Trotman.
A credit to SEAT UK.
This garage group has now been awarded the franchise near to Truro(Town and Country).

Just had a 50k service at this dealers. Small but friendly dealership with good traditional customer service, they even did a great job of washing my car. Price paid for the service was actually cheaper than quoted and very competitive. Parts chap knew about the Leon bonnet seal and they had one in stock. Overall, very impressed by this dealer and will go back in future.
No problems with imports.

I have had 10,20,30 & 40k services with FRF Seat and they been quite good overall. They have dealt with a few warranty issues, one of which went on for 8 months which lead to a little friction between myself and the service manager (who up to that point had been great). Unfortunately I have experienced a few problems with FRF (which I will not go into here) but would use them again if I had to. Another plus is that they always provided a car when asked for.
No problems with imports.
Just to give a few kind words about Alexandra Bridge Cars in Sunderland.
Gave full trade price for my sister's Saxo, plus around £850 off the list price of a Leon 1.6S (beat the drivethedeal quote that I had by just over £40) without too much work. Produced a car with a couple of minutes notice for an unaccompanied test drive, and said take it away for as long as you want. Very little pressure from a very friendly salesman, making a pleasant buying experience :D
Contrast that with the Citroen garage where we had just tried a C3 HDi. We were told there's not much fuel in it, so you can only have a short (2 miles, if that) test drive. After I've provided 5 or 6 sales and loads of servicing work for them in the last 3 years
No prizes for guessing which deal my sister went for.

Richard Huzzey's - Newbury(again)
50k service yesterday, excellent service as ever, and a courtsey car despite me doing 100 miles a day. A 1.2 Ibiza, which was suprisingly good, bit slow on hills, but otherwise impressive. There also happy for me to bring it back first thing next day, which makes life easier.
so, thanks to Andy Reid, Matt Stone and Angela and Richard Huzzey, top dealer

MK SEAT /Stoneacre
Forogt to mention this. Got my bodykit from MK SEAT just b4 they were taken over by Stoneacre. Martin was very helpful sorting out the parts and even posted a couple of parts that were delayed to me at no extra cost. If they werent quite so far away, then i'd get all my work done there. Chris (rallyman) is a top bloke there as well, always very helpful
Hopefully the take over wont change the happy service.

A bit worrying as nobody has recommended JCT600 Yeadon or Bradford, the two nearest dealers to me.

I have to give a thumbs up to Autoworld Chesterfield.
Polite and professional service so far.
Had my first service and a tricky airbag problem fixed there (I posted a long-winded separate thread (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=227008#post227008) on this dealer if anyone's interested.)
Got given a 1.0 Arosa courtesy car, put over 1500 miles on it while they figured out the airbag fault...
BTW, Chesterfield is in Derbyshire - between Sheffield and Nottingham, a few miles west of the M1...
carshop (yeovil)
great service , and very helpful . top place and would recommend to anyone :)
Have bought 2 cars from GC within the family, mine and my sisters. Good experience both times.
However not living near GC had my car serviced at Wiltshires. Engineers always helpfull. Only negative is misable service desk man.

In the London area Westerham were really good !! I moved down to the south coast..... and brought my third Seat from Great Covert 6 months ago and they have also given a quality service !
I'm going to close this as a number of dealers on this list have left the SEAT franchise, while the standard at other dealers have appeared to have changed at a couple.
New thread, stuck at the top of the forum!
