View Full Version : Is Black Magic "brown"?!!!!!
Hi, people!
I've just heard (from my father in law, but don't let that put you off!) that he got a new motor (not a SEAT, it was Suzuki I think) in a colour called Black Magic. And it's brown, or at least it appears so in daylight.
Now I know that different manufacturers use different paints/suppliers and everything, but it's still got me spooked:
I've ordered my Leon in Black Magic, without having actually seen the colour first hand. I was assuming that metallic black was gonna be, well, metallic and black! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif
Is the new Leon Black Magic colour cursed with this brown look, or am I OK?!
Anyone who can put my mind at ease with photographic evidence can claim a pint!

I suppose that some of you Amethyst people may have seen a Black Magic Leon in the flesh?

I don't think anyone can give you a picture, (but look at www.seat.nl (http://www.seat.nl) and pick a black magic image) cos black Leons you've seen will all be Black Magic pearl.

MY02 ordered now will be Metallic Black (not sure that it is also called Black Magic though).
Should not be too hard for you to find a metallic black golf ~ I believe these are the same colour.
(And my wifes' Ford Ka is Black Magic Metallic, and it's blackety-black-black)

I've just checked out that link, by the way.
It doesn't actually look all that black on the motor, it does have a brown(ish) tinge to it.
Maybe it's just this monitor/gfx card?

The Black Magic is a pearl effect paint. Which when clean looks a lovely black sparkly colour. I've got one on my drive.

This was discontinued - "solid" ebony black was the only varient available when I ordered my car at the end of June. I'll tell you how black it looks next week (hooray!).
This was only available for approx 3 months (exclusive eh?). , when they switched to the current Metallic Black.....and I'd be surprised if SEAT had actually built any in this colour yet. My mates Golf 1.8T is VW black magic metallic ~ it looks spanky - don't worry!
Pint? Petrol does look a little expensive, but then I'd be driving down in my TDI (smoking my pipe and wearing slippers), so it'd only cost me £50.....

I don't know what you are worried about anyway - brown is the new black (apparently). All brown cars come with gold alloys and "wee-green" interiors...

Cupraman: I've looked at your car before (it was the deciding factor on my colour choice http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif but I didn't realise that the pre-Ebony Black motors were Black Magic too? Good news if they are, mind, because I've seen a couple around and they've looked great!

I thought yours was pearl, whereas current orders are metallic?

That is, of course, assuming that my doors don't leak, the speakers don't burst, my pollen filter doesn't attack and kill my family, the paint doesn't rot off, the lack of a sunroof doesn't drive me mad, I can't left foot break, the mpg is untennable, the steering wheel is alligned, the dump valve isn't naff, and the black paint ain't brown!

I also have ordered my Leon 20 VT in Black Magic(ref Z4Z4),
at first i asked for the ebony Black but they couldn't satisfied me
Because the ebony is only for the Cupra

I will try and get some better shots of the paintwork and confirm the colour code.
do any of the parts guys(flapper) know if there is any touch up paint for the met black or the magic black, to see if the colour is the same and then at least i will be able to get it .
touch ups (OOO ER ) only go by the colour code in the car itself ,ill see if there is a name on any of the one i have listed :)
mail me ya colour codes and i can tell you wht SET call your colour (to be honest) the list dont get updated too often mind :(
