It has occured to me that there may be a few people on here considering getting their cars chipped at various places across the country, so why shouldn't we save money whilst doing it??
If a number of people are looking for the same items, if we sort it as a group, we have to be able to get a decent discount.
I have already been offered £50 off the Oettinger chip just by mentioning the site, how much more could we save if I said I've got 5 people who want it!!
Just an idea, but if you are interested, put down what kit u are after below, and we'll see what we can do!

Im planning on getting my car APR Chipped very soon.
If you we can get a good enough discount then I may be tempted to travel the distance to get it done.

I am interested, just got bonus at work, chip seems a worthy way to spend it. Considered both Upsolute, and APR.
i'd be interested in chipping my 8v!, But id also want to put a cam in and possibly a gas flowed head- would the chip make a differance on doing this?
just got my ibiza 20vt chipped by APR ,its a very good package .and the customer service was first class.

If at all possible get a chip done on your car when modified.. Not an off the shelf chip whcih probably would'nt do your mods justice.
Bill
Just had mine APR'd today, absolutely top notch support, id highly recommend them to anyone.
The EMCS system is superb, the fitting of the chip is really professioinal, and the features of the system are very useful and cool. :)
what was the cost of the chip and where did you have to travel to get it fitted zboyd i have same car and would like mine mildly tuned but it has to be reliable and above all work
I've had my APR system for a month or so now and it's excellent. Technical support can't be faulted. The 40% extra torque over standard in chipped mode is fantastic.

APR have a main office in Daventry, but they have 3 main approved dealers in the UK.
They are:
Star Performance up in Scotland - Jim Curly
Awesome GTi - Warrington - Jim or Dan
and where mine was done
Stealth Racing - Southam, nr Banbury - Vince
You can find all the info and contact details at www.apreurope.com
The process is quick, and is fully tested before you drive away, they make sure your happy. I will find it superb, cause during the week going to work the traffic is heavy so having a chipped car, is less economical, so with the EMCS i can switch back to my standard/stockk setting and get better MPG, but even in chipped mode the car drives well and is refined and reliable.
cheers but still would like to know what the full fitted price is and what the specs are ?
Its all on the APR website. £595 for the basic EMCS 1 Chip, Cruise is about £175 if done with chip, then add extra programs at varying prices dependant on what they do.
Its all on APR's site.
Other manufacturers offer differing systems, Upsolute is great value for money, AMD do soild reliable upgrades, Oettinger/RSD offer a warranty *cough* but non come with the features of the EMCS its unique to APR.
At the end of the day you pay your money and take your choice.
Have i missed something? why do the majority of people on here *cough* when rsd are mentioned?

...because I can think of two people who, having had problems with their RSD/Oettinger chipped cars, were told, "put up with it or we'll take it off" when they had problems. Therefore a few people aren't too trusting in the warranty offered. YMMV
Cheers

I'm going for an upsolute chip anyone else want to get one?

Quite ! Two people out of how many ?
A Warrenty is better than nothing at all !

Out of the people on here with Oettinger chipped cars, two have had problems and both have been told to put up with it or leave it. The people who haven't had to go back haven't had any problems.
Therefore that's 100% of the people on here who've had a problem have had no (IMO) support from the supplier. All depends on how you look at it.

A warranty that offers you nothing when you need to use it is 'nothing at all'.
Andy
Cheers Andy
But at the end of the day don't berate or defend them, in my very much informed opinion their actions draw a pretty plain picture of their actions.
Warranty, yes if you think you need it, then yep i suppose its good, but then again, ask why do i need one, when other manufacturers have the confidence in their products not to bother.
When you need help you dont get it.
And reading the warranty fully, its far from comprehensive, i think the people who got their conversions thru Amethyst are much better off.
Anyway not my problem anymore i had the Oettinger removed, cost me a new ECU to do it mind you, but im much more prepared to do that than put up with poor customer service any longer.
I could show the world what a piss poor fitment they did to my ECU, but im not going to, as thats just spiteful, and unconstructive. All i can say is go with what you feel, you get what you pay for, and sometimes you get more than you bargain for.
I may start putting the next line in my Profile :D
YOU PAY YOUR MONEY AND TAKE YOUR CHOICE.
AAh this doesn't inspire me to get my cam and chip from them then!
Can anyone recommend someone decent, its for a 2.0 8v.

As far as I know, no-one has had any bother with work done by RSD on mk2 Ibiza's or Cordoba's apart from someone who had a chip only supplied for an 8v rather than the chip & cam he wanted. The cock-up was rectified in due course and the person in question went away a happy chappy. Chips for mk2's are supplied by AmD not Oettinger btw...
I don't really want to get dragged into the whole politics of chipping 20vT's as it's something i've had no experience of what with me not owning one - I have a 2.0 8v like yourself. All I will say is that from reading comments on here, there seems to be a bit more to chipping a 20vT successfully, and a few people have had bad (and in some cases costly) experiences.
If you're still not keen to do business with RSD, you could try Richardsons/RPM in Somerset. Paul seems very knowledgeable, even if contacting him can be a bit of a pain in the arse at times. Still, at least I sometimes get to speak to him unlike the guys at RSD who NEVER seem to answer the phone...
G
I didn't think that RSD did non turbo cars now (as I got told by someone who was close)
anyway - all they do is buy the stock AmD chip & stick it in.
best bet would be is this (IMO)
get the cam fitted at teh same time as AmD chip it. they then map the chip to suit the cam (which is non std) thus giving the BEST gains.
Geoff is a nice guy - i'm sure he'll help you

on another point - why do people always ask the prices of things - like Z said - look on the company website. Failing that use modern technology & phone them. that's the best way of testing a company is to ask them questions direct.
(called APR today & had a quick chat & got all my info - even though I don't & doubt I will ever have a 20VT - bloody nice guys)
RPM don't resell for RSD (as someone who works there told me)
Go to Jabbasport, they'll program the chip to your requirement so the engine performs how you want and a lot cheaper than others. Mike T is certainly on the ball when it comes to 1.8T motors.
