View Full Version : Thinking of Buring a Leon Cupra - Help Me!

Righty, I've read the reviews, I've dug through these forums and I'm all booked in for a testdrive this weekend, I just need to know anything you lot think is important. I've also got some questions:
1) I hear a lot of talk of importing. Where are people importing from, how long does it take, what sort of savings can be made?
2) Assuming I buy from the UK, what sort of price can I expect to haggle the dealer down to? WhatCar's 'aim for' price is £14,217, am I likely to get this low, or lower?
3) What are these cars like for holding their value and is there anywhere I can get a 3 or 4 month old one for a decent reduction in price?
4) Is the standard dump-valve really that bad and should it be replaced from the word go?
5) What other mods are popular and should be looked at?
6) Having just written off my brand new Astra Coupé, any idea where I should look for a reasonable insurance quote? Also, I'm only 21 and no longer have any no claims whatsoever.
Cheers in advance matey peeps.

My local dealer has (as do most) an Ex-demo 4-5month old Cupra for about £13,000.
My insurance on a TDi 110 was £440 with full NCB, I'm 24, I suspect insurance will be high!!!
It should hold its value quite well.

Blimey, that was quick! Thanks for the reply, and just to clarify, I am thinking of 'buying' a Leon Cupra, not 'buring' or 'burying' as the title of this thread may suggest. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

FYi, go to www.seat.co.uk, (http://www.seat.co.uk,) click on Dealers used cars and do a search, all the second had stock is available, most with pictures http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Importing directly from a Euro dealer will get you a Cupra at your door for under £12K, but you'll have to wait 3-4 months. Several different sources.
Try some of the car supermarkets ~ Motorpoint (I think) had loads of Cupras (8+)when I looked a couple of months back, all with leather and metallic for £13.5 from memory. Get them immediately, but you are officially the 2nd owner, have no real choice of spec or colour etc.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif Different Neil mate. This one works at Amethyst, I tried to follow him back from Castle Combe in a Beeza 20VT..... No chance!
Lets just say he has a small reputation for driving quite quickly. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

...computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as
kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room munching pills and listening
to repetitive music...
I have just bought (3 weeks ago) a 5 month old cupra (ex demo) with 2400 miles from a dealer for 13K.
With regards to insurance - i found most people didn't want to touch me - I am 23 with
1YNCB. The cheapest by far was elephant.co.uk
(£915). One thing to note was that my quote reduced by £350 by adding my dad as a second driver!!!!
Good luck & go for it

Carpricecheck.com tells me that Rennys of Tonbridge have a UK spec (they're a SEAT main dealer) for £14,239. That seems to be the best deal on the net, although you could always run that one past Amethyst or your local dealer. www.bells-group.co.uk (http://www.bells-group.co.uk) who will do you what may or may not be an import, in stock, with delivery miles, for £12,995. Good luck with the insurance as well :-(

I forgot to mention - well done on breaking a V**xh*ll. One less is always a good thing in my book.
