If we are in spending mode, what percentage discount on the list price should we be considering on an Altea ?.

I have computed the discount percentage on an Altea that you are getting at http://www.drivethedeal.com/ which is based on a trawl of dealers [The Daily Telegraph's pet site] and that is circa 6 percent. The dealer that I saw at the weekend said "don't expect prices to come down within a year". The guide discount percentage on new cars is generally to my knowledge 13 to 15 percent.

Of anybody who has placed an order what percent did they get ignoring trade in value or putting in the trade in value, if it was a way of giving you a big discount. I trust that I can use the board like this to get commercial sensitive information on Seat's dealer practises :). Auto Express or one of the publishers prints "aim to pay" but it's too early yet for them to publish so it seems.

I see that in France the SEAT ALTEA 2.0 TDI DSG STYLANCE is on sale for 24,370 € [£16,373].

Slightly amusing review in translated French to English.

The car is described as having "a massive poop" [very French] and has beome a truck and not a car;).

You are not as low as Drive the Deal but then I got a lower one than that and have bought my car. Delivery - too long. So no Altea :drive1: for sometime yet. It was one with all the mod cons except sat nav and the factory have to carefully assemble it - we hope.

Looking to October on mine if they build it to the planned date in the beginning of Sept. That's the DSG 2.0 TDI. Hopefully after the Seat summers hols they will be back into the swing of bolting cars together.

I'm told the Seat holidays are over now as for the last couple of weeks he has been unable to give me any info about where my Altea is. This week he has told me where it is (sadly still in Spain).

Sticking to the theme of this thread, I got no discount on my Altea if you are ignoring trade in prices. I did try one of the online dealers although they were giving a discount on the new car the trade in allowance was also lower so it worked out about the same.

Well I worked out the discount price at 6 percent from the screens... noted that there was not trade in. The dealer said they would match it. Offered me a figure of £150 below possible the value of my 10 year old car, which was not alot, but when they gave me the value it was lower than the internet site. Whoops the internet site was 4 percent, so I actually got an extra 2 percent. I kept mum.

I understand that Seat don't really discount.... on delivery I am told that there is no news untill the week of production, then you wait to see whether it went into production which they check on their systems... add on 6 wks to get it here.
