I noticed you couldn't get your sidelight bulb out. Flapper had to remove my battery to get enough room to pull it out with some pliers. He then modified the clip with a knife so tht it came out easily. Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure....
Cheers

I have just fitted the side lights into my Ibiza drivers side fine passingers was a nightmare I managed to get around the cut hand and wrist tring to force it into a gap that was to small by getting a small child to do it for me hahaha told him if it got it wrong the action figure GOT IT :D He was very skilled and didnt even scatch the bulb, gave him the doll back and £1 job done. :p :D :D

I'll give it another go this weekend. Pain in the ass though. looks odd.

so fitting can be a real t**t, what about the peformance of the bulbs compared to std. I used to have an impreza, noteable for completely useless lights, chnaged them for Xenon and it made a small (but not great) improvement. Others I know upped the bulb ratings (80W etc, very illeagle in this country)

As far as my understanding of the issue goes, the light is only as good as the reflector and the voltage that is effectively at the bulb terminals. I'm not sure how good my new Toledo's will be but from my experience (with my 98 ibiza GT TDI) one of the best upgrades is to have a relay installed between the lights & light switch. This trick has the voltage a the bulb terminals up from 12.8V to 13.6V on my ibiza. The light output is quite is much whiter than stock.
mmmm good idea , but wouldnt 13 odd volts into a 12v bulb shorten its lifespan ???
mind you if it works why not eh ??
good idea , i'll try it on the old mans dodgy mkII cortina
I want full Xenon Conversion now

In theory 13 odd volts into a 12 volt bulb will shorten it's life, in the real world you won't notice much difference.
The voltage regulator from your alternator in most cars regulates the battery voltage @ 14.4 maximum (with the engine running). The more amps you draw on a circuit the lower the voltage will be. Haven't looked at drawings for these cars but depending whats switched on or off sometimes you could easily have in excess of 13 volts on your standard bulbs anyway (when driving).
Anyhow the increase in voltage is only equivalent to upping power by around 6%, so hopefully any reduction in lifespan would be around the same %age.
Flapper,
I really haven't notice any drop in longevity. I think drops in longevity occur when you have to many fluctuations in voltage a.k.a. have the lights on then start the car. It's not XENON but it's a good 20-30% improvement (In my honest opinion).
I'd also like a full XENON conversion like Cupraman, why? Cus it's alot more like and because I live almost 140km from work which is exactly 1.5hrs of night time driving everyday. Expense wise, however, if a real conversion ever comes out (I think PIAA has one or is working on one) it will be very very expensive.
The problem is not the bulbs per say but the ballast which provides the 20000V to get the arc going in the bulb. Mucho Dinero!!
Take Care,
Paulo
Hi guys,
Fould a link to a company which sells a real HID/XENON conversion for H1 - H7. Looks interesting, but still wondering about the legal issues involved ('cus I think HID headlights have to be equipped with auto-leveling and lens washing system to be legal !???).

mmmm nice idea (OFF ROAD ONLY) ??? plus would you really wanna spend that sort of cash on flash lamps ????
still if you was rallying or summat id see the point
wish i had a bike , only 2 bulbs then :D
I can almost see your point (if I only had real Xenon I could see it better:) :) :) ).
It still bugs me, that you can real Xenon on the Golf and Octavia (both of which are equally priced to the LEON/TOLEDO hear), but no real way to get it on the LEON/TOLEDO.
If that weren't enough:mad:  Hella makes Xenon kits for the Golf and even the Ford Focus.
For me the drive home from work is always done at night (140km ride). The headlights on the beeza are mediocre at best (H1/H1) plus I dought that the H7 on the Toledo are any better. If a factory XENON kit were available, I would definitly go for it. If you ever try a E-class with XENON, you will never want to go back.
Paulo
yeah i agree , but you know , we make the best of what we can i suppose , still love to see real HID lamps on the new beeza soon , i hope

Made some enquiries about this myself as the dipped beam on my '99 8v Ibiza is a steaming bag of w*nk although the main beam is fantastic - thankfully the road rally I did a couple of weeks ago was on tiny little roads in the middle of nowhere, so didn't blind too many people...
Anyway, getting back to the point, the legal limit for road use in the UK is 100W, although a couple of people have said you can go >100W and others say >=100W, although in reality it'd probably never get spotted. The only thing they look for in an MoT whether the bulbs work and are correctly aligned, brightness is NOT checked. Whatever, because the standard H1's are 55W, i'd need to re-run the cables, fit beefier relays, uprated fuses to make sure things didn't overheat and turn the engine bay into a bonfire. It seemed like WAY too much hassle ('cos i'm a lazy fecker :D) so i'm going for the nice Xenon bulbs from those lovely chaps at Amethyst on Saturday. :)
OK I'll admit it, I was using 100w/100w in my headlights for a while. Changed back to 55W/100 because I was blowing out bulbs every 2 months on the dipped beam.
I also have to admit that I'm sort of tempted to try the autolamps H7 conversion. However from what I've been reading at the philips light forum:
http://www.lighting.philips.com/forum/forum_6/wwwboard.html?header=forum_header_2.htm&footer=global_footer_1.htm
the conversion is no where as good as a full HID Xenon conversion (with a true to life HID reflector that is) plus there could be problems with glare:( which would make oncoming traffic very:mad:
Maybe Seat Santa Claus will give me my wish
Paulo
Well guys,
After e-mailing both the local distributor and Seat in Spain (a dozen times  ) inquiring as to wheather or not true to life HID/XENON headlights would be available for the Leon/Toledo in the near future (still waiting for the response after 3 or so odd months), plus the fact that I still do not really like the light output from the stock Toledo lights (for my 150km night time ride home from work) and last but not least, last night I had the priviledge of driving a Lupo GTI (with HID)
I've decide to pluck down the money and order the autolamps
retro kit.
I'll try and keep a log of the various steps and try to get pictures at the same time so that any one else who is eventually thinging of upgrading might have a good intro as to what will be needed.

Nice one Paulo, thanks!
I guess Santa didn't bring you any then? ;)

It was foggy Christmas night, I thinks Santa doesn't have HID either;)
What ticks me off a bit is non existant response from Seat. They could have just e-mail a Yes/No response, no need for great details. The Portugues importer, I'm already used to (everytime you ask for something out of the ordinary it takes many months for a response).
