Hi.

When I first got my car, it came with the stock Alana (or whatever it was) HU. About two weeks later I had it replaced by my old HU (a Sony xplod mp-30). They didn't replace it when I first got my car because the guy who usually took care of that wasn't it (or some similair excuse).

The fact is.. after about two weeks they called me and told me to drop by to have it replaced.
I did so, and they installed my old HU, and it works fine. However, just as I got home and I took the key out of the ignition, the doors didn't unlock. I found it strange, but didn't pay much more attention to that.

The next day, the exact same thing happened, only this time I waited and few seconds, and the door did unlock.

From then to now, the timming seems totally random.. sometimes it takes 2 seconds, sometimes it takes 10 (this is the most common), sometimes it takes 30 or more. It always works, but with random timming. It started exactly after they exchanged the HU. Before that, the door *always* unlocked exactly after I pulled the key from the ignition.

So my question is - there's obviously some issue that was caused by the replacement of the HU. What could be causing it? Is there anything that I can do to fix this?

The manual does mention something about the replacement of the stock HU with an aftermarkey one, and the fact that it may cause some issues...

The whole auto lock feature is nothing but a pain. Have them disable it and you'll get rid of the problem and all the future problems related to it.

I had problems with my boot lid not unlocking with the door button (when keys still in ignition) and locking up randomly by itself when closing the boot lid. Had the service to disable the feature and all problems are gone now.

Probably something to do with the K-line which is a communication link from the ECU with various modules throughout the car including the original headunit. I suspect your Sony headunit is interfering with the signals on the K-line hence your door locks not operating correctly. Try and get the headunit disconnected from the K-line on the headunit connector and that may cure the problem hopefully.
