This may be a stupid question, but is it illegal to have a display in the back of your car (rear windscreen) if it is in red?

I would like something to pass on little messages to other road users (like bye bye for all those no*as and fies*as)

Anyone got any ideas?

NOPE,

it is illegal if the lights at the back are NOT red, and the lights at the front are NOT white - this is why some people get pulled by the fuzz for halogen blue headlights (but no law mentions wheather theyre legal or not)

So....

red is ok at the back...

I've got an LED sign writer in the back of my Cordoba, I havent had any hassle from the pigs (yet) but thats probably down to the fact that I flick it off if I pass a copper or have one behind me. I just cant be bothered with the hassle of being stopped and possibly having my motor checked over.

I think Dave (GTEVO) has been stopped a couple of times for having his sign writer on but I dont think they did FA.

If it was illegal to have one in your car in sure the packaging or instructions would state "Not for road use" or sommit.

And if it was illegal, the police wouldnt be allowed to use them either cos their cars have to be fully road legal too

I've always wanted one of those sign writers in the back window... I've always got plenty to say to the twats on my daily commute on the M25. Any idea where I can get one? Basically i want the ability to write any messages but also have some preset messages for quick response.
the only one I have seen has 4 fixed presets and no ability to change them.... the messages were "Thanks", "Sorry" etc... not quite the sort of messages I was tinking of! ;)

I got mine from a shop in Poole, got it a tenner cheaper than on the website.
