I HAVE PLACED AN ORDER FOR A NEW YELLOW IBIZA CUPRA, I PICK IT UP ON THE 1ST OF SEP AND I CANT WAIT. WHEN I PHONED MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR A QUOTE THEY ASKED ME IF IT HAD AN APPROVED IMOBILISER FITTED, I WASNT SURE!
DOSE ANY ONE KNOW IF IT IS APPROVED OR NOT AND IF THE CAR COMES WITH PROOF FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES?

The immobiliser hasn't been thatcham approved, so you should ask them what saving you would get and shop arround for a Cat 1 alarm. Toad do one for £250 and most places fit them for £50.
Clifford's G4 300 is £400 quid but loads of extras and it costs £40 for the turbo timer option to be enabled or you could go for the option up and it has it already enabled with loads more extras as well for £600 a think.

You should goto check point to George street and they'll give you the low down on both alarms listed in my last post.

For my third post on the topic. Try WWW.elephant.co.uk (http://WWW.elephant.co.uk) for insurrance. I'm 21 a write off under my name and a years no claims and am £800 pounds and they don't bother about security and a live in the same area as you.

Got a piper cros form SJB. you have to watch because there have been reports of power losses with an induction kit so when a get home from offshore al be visiting ricky gauld for a rolling road test so al keep every one updated. About the dump valve dont go for one wuth a woosh go for the forge recirculating as you canloose boost there. But as always there is a but my dealer says any mods validates the part they are assosited with so dump valve and air filter means little to no warrenty on the engine. Where in the aberdeen shire you from?

I have an Ibiza Cupra bought from UK dealer about 4 months ago and was also asked to provide details of alarm/imobiliser from Tesco insurance. The Ibiza Cupra IS fitted with a Thatcham approved alarm system. Your dealer needs to supply details to you on a headed letter which you can then send to insurance company. The Thatcham approval code for this car is TE2-1122/0899.
Hope this info helps.

If you want proof that the Cupra is
Thatcham 2 approved, go to there website. You can then download a list and send that to the insurer. Job done!.

Who's website? Seat or Thatcham?
I could'nt find thatchams url..
cheers

PLEASE IGNORE - NOW FOUND IT AT http://www.thatcham.org there is a pdf file with all approved cat 1 and 2 alarms along with a very comprehensive list of what is covered...
thanks for the prompt to find it... I too was wondering if a new ibiza was "approved" out of the box. Now you've provided the facts... cheers bud

the key denotes Transponder, Saloon Car approval and Diesel, so this is immobilised only then? Factory sales blurb has a tick against alarm (remote locking?)
Is this right.... can someone confirm this please.
thanks

The Leons are alarmed as standard i have no doubts its true of the Ibiza Cupra too.

Im not sure what type of system, the Leon has a volumetric system, a bit like ultrasonics but far better, measure airflow i think inside the vehicle, if its disturbed it will set off the alarm.

I've doubled up on mine, i have had a Clifford G4 Concept 300 system installed for added security, this is also Thatcham one approved, when i got my Leon it was a grey area with the insurers whether or not the standard system had full approval.

Typical of insurance companies they will always try and dodge giving you a lower premium if they can get away with it. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/tongue.gif

Though my exisiting alarm system works alongside the Clifford one, it now has 2 immobilisers, making it that much more difficult to tamper with, and the dual zone proximity detectors ward away people who may get a little too close.

Good investment, adds a little more piece of mind. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Reading the blurb on the site it comes across as:

Remotely Operated
2 Circuit Immobilisation.
Ultrasonic Detection (your alarm)
Also Operates Central Locking.

In Israel not all the Insurance companies will insure the Ibiza 20vT (especialy the DIRECT BY PHONE type), but those that will, charge 420 pounds per year for a comprehensive all risk insurance and they are happy with the original immobilizer! Yes, no need for an alarm here!
Cupras are around here from 1998 and not one has been stolen yet!
