Whats the standard stereo like in the Ibiza Cupra?
Is it worth me taking the CD Changer option or should I bin the standard stereo altogether and fit something else?
Also, what happens to the centre display if you fit another stereo? I presume it continues to show other information but obviously wont show the stereo information.
Whilst I'm on the subject of the centre display.... does it have a trip computer showing fuel consumption etc?
Thanks in advance,
Ben

Have you taken a look inside the Ibiza ? http://www.seatcupra.net/inibiza.shtm gives you a nice close up look at the display.
The Ibiza does have a trip computer unlike the Leon. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Not bad. If you're used to a aftermarket unit with uprated speakers then you're going to be disappointed. As standard units go, the speakers are quite bassy, the unit has plenty of useful options and is easy to use. 4x20w output.

You can't bin the standard unit, it's part of the dash. I'd recommend the CD Changer, it all works well off the controls on the dash and the sound quality is much better than using the tape deck.

It certainly does. One thing we have over the Leon drivers! :-)

Thanks for your help,
I didn't realise that you can't replace the stereo!!! Is it not like on the Peugeot 306 where you can replace it if you buy a specially shaped blanking plate???

Received from Seat Customer Care today -
--------
Dear Mr Wallington
Thank you for your e-mail dated 13th June 2001.
If you should elect to fit unapproved accessories your vehicle's warranty on
the affected parts is invalidated. The speaker grilles on the doors are not
available separately so you would need to purchase the whole door trim. A
costly exercise in terms of replacement of (say) all four speakers.
Unfortunately our technical department has not been advised by the factory
of the speaker size.
We do however have a speaker kit containing all 8 speakers, part number
KA17701553. The price is a very reasonable £43.00 + VAT. However we believe
these to be the OE speakers, thus not an upgrade.
SEAT Sport is about to launch an audio upgrade package comprising a 600W
amplifier and 8 upgraded speakers. In addition a separate 140W amplified
sub-woofer is in development. We do not have prices on these products at
present but our technical team has seen the system and the sound is great.
Since we believe you want to change the rear speakers, to give more bass,
the sub-woofer will provide this and will be available August (subject to
approval).
Whilst we have been unable to answer your question directly, we trust the
information given will give you food for thought.

Sounds very interesting!
Keep us up to date on any info you get (Prices etc).
Thanks,
Ben

i found it with the spanish link too , DJ ive got the pics @ work ,only pronblem is that SEAT UK cant get em , well not yet anyway , bummer especially as the sub has been seen in a SEAT car too .....I'll keep ya posted http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

The standard system just cant handle the bass!!
I took the car to a specialist and he said the speakers were too small and the amp not powerfull enough. So he recommended new kenwood speakers, back and front and a new 50w per channel amp which fits to the back of the rear passenger seat in the boot. also the rear speakers come in a modified parcel shelf which the new speakers sit in.
All day job to fit though but should be worth the 600 pound price.
------------------
The problem with adding a new amp is that the Ibiza stereo doesn't have RCAs or any other line level outputs (Correct me if I'm wrong.). Yes, some amps have speaker level connections or you can get speaker level to line level converters but from my experience this give very low quality sound and often introduces a high pitched whine which changes pitch with the engine revs. I've tried some of the surpresses you can get which are designed to get rid of the whin but they simply don't work!
Has anyone else had these problems? Has anyone else fited an amp to the Ibiza and got good results?

Mines unprotected at the moment (ooh err) and I wash it once a week, I still think mine is nice and shiny and new looking. I've had it since January so 7 months isn't bad I think. I might get the diamond stuff, trouble is the Milltek Exhaust is calling me first!
Cheers,
Andy
