Does anyone have the warranty details you get on a new Ibiza Cupra. 3 years I know, but covering what over what periods?
These usually step down in cover over years 2 & 3.
Can someone let me know?
Also: What is the servicing cost for the Ibiza Cupra? and what are the intervals?
What grade of oil is used on the Ibiza Cupra?
Lots of questions I know... sorry.
the reason I ask about the oil & service interval is a friends new Polo Gti has got to 8500miles and its service me now indicator has come on, but the dealer won't service it until its got to 10K miles. The thing really does need an oil change, and rattles sometimes on startup now & has very black buggered oil. I would not want to wait for 10K miles especially on running in a new engine, especially on a turbo motor.
On previous turbo cars I've run (Renault 11 turbo-tweeked to 17psi boost & Audi Quattro turbo) I ran Mobil One fully synthetic.
What do the dealers use?
Anyone got any opinions or experiences on this?
cheers guys
thanks
Bill

I think the trouble is that nowadays can you trust any dealers to use the right oil, they get it at the cheapest price by the barrel.
I personally change mine to Mobil 1 like you and i change my own oil every 4 months or so.
The Ibiza/Leon being a turbo really needs a high quality Fully Synthetic at least 5W 40, i think Mobil 1 is choice as thats even lower being 0W 40.
I think if your mates dealer wont service it, then they need to be changed, id go to another dealer or demand the dealer do the service now, if not do what i do go straight to the manufacturer and get them to give the dealer a bollocking.
ive got my warranty in front of me here for the Leon goes as follows:
Year One:
Manufacturers warranty covering all parts for defects except normal wear and tear items.
Year Two & Three / or 60,000 miles
Dealer Warranty
Cover Electrical and Mechanical items against manufacturing defects
Excludes:
Electrics:
Communication systems and connected equipment
Miscellaneous:
Tyres, Bulbs, cleaning and adjustments of any component. All accessories fitted after date of registration.
Bodywork:
Bodywork, though where corrosion exists this may be covered by the SEAT Anti-Perforation Warranty. Which is 12 years on Leons.
This info was taken from my customer care guide which was dated July 2000, so as a result things may have changed.
There are lots of other items mentioned, mainly about if you modify it etc. oops http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/tongue.gif
Your typical industry warranty, ie not worth the paper its written on http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Chips are nicer in Engines than with Fish.
At Amethyst we use castrol magnatec as this leaves a coating of oil on all engine components when the car is switched off.
This stops any wear on initial start up and prolongs engine life, also we use an oil flush before draining the old oil when we service cars.
The intervals are every 10k but on turbo cars 5k is much better.
sericing ranges from £70 - £200 through the life of the car (excluding cambelt changes) on all SEAT models
just remember it is a big investment so look after it properly.

Just to add
Not so long ago i read the autocar/evo long term test report on the Leon.
They said that when it came to its 10K service interval (car had done 30K i think) the oil was very treacly, and that ideally an oil&filter change was needed much earlier.
However it had done 20K in 12months and had not been going quietly.
But i think its better to change at 5K intervals.

Cheers Graham and Zboyd.
I do want to look after it for sure.. hence askign these sort of questions.
I was alarmed at CD Brammalls attitude on servicing my mates Polo though... It does rattle now on startup with 8.5K miles on it.
Running in any engine introduces metallic particles into the oil system, and fully synthetic is'nt advised on new engines. Magnatec is good stuff though.
I change my oil every 3K miles on my sprint car and its as clean as a new pin internally. I also did this without fail on my old turbo renault & ur quattro.... I swear the renault kept on running just because I changed the oil every 3K miles. Mobil One fell out like black water in just 3K's... Just think what it has to put up with, with red hot turbo, and pressures...
Roll on Sept 1st.... and the Ibiza.
cheers
