im on the quest for more power and torque
has anyone fitted a bigger front mounted intercooler to there leon
or indeed has anyone added a second to the standard side mounted item

what are the pros and cons of doing so ?

especially as regards pipework and such
is there anything to stop me buying a large front mounted intercooler off something like an uprated evo or similar and then just re-route the piping ?

I am also looking at fmic options for A3 which is the same layout,we need to be careful how much piping we use, ideally we need a shorter run of piping to minimize pressure losses.I am thinking of what Bill had done to golf, losing the rear piping and bringing main turbo pipe right then over engine and through front plastic panel above radiator on the right. He also had the i/c inlet and outlet diagonanally mounted to ease fitment ie bottom left to manifold, top right to turbo.Allard made his for him.Cheers Andy

I didn't think it was the amount of piping that caused pressure loss. I thought too much piping causes extra lag, and its the resistance through the IC that causes pressure loss.

Too many bends will contribute p-loss in pipework, as will severity of bends.
Core can cause p-loss also... balancing act on dwell thru core to allow heat exchange vs p-loss caused by dwell.

APR do a FMIC that fits the Leon Cupra - both that and the Forge one are £750 + VAT.
