i just finished fitting my apexi boost guage.

what a nightmare, theres about as much space behind the dash as there is under the bonnet.

anyway i have a few questions; firstley does anyone know where i can get a 60mm pod to mount the thing in as i dont like th epipe work showing.

and secondly if anyone has put one in can u please tell where u got the feed from for the backlight from and what colur were the wires

cheers

Amythest fitted by boost gauge so i don't know the details I'm afraid, but I was quite impressed that they wired the backlight into the dash lighting so that the dash brightness control also controls the brightness of the gauge backlight. However, even when the dash is set to full brightness I feel that the boost gauge backlight is still too dim, sort of yellowy not white. This could just be the boost gauge or maybe the dashlight circuit doesn't give the full 12v that the backlight is designed for.

Does anyone now if the dashlight circuit is 12v or not?

Cheers
Ben

The place you got the gauge from should have the pods in. If not, try someone like Demon Tweeks.

You can get the juice for the back light from the fuse box.......either choose a permenant feed and have that going into a switch, or do what I did..............take the feed from the headlight fuse (meaning the backlight will only operate when you have your headlights on - which is basically when you need it!)

The switch is a good idea if you don't want the thing lit up all the time when driving at night.

i didnt get it from a shop, my mate took it out of his gtir caus hes just put in the electronic version, so i got it for a tenner, not bad eh.

i have tried demon tweeks but they only do them for the standard 52mm guage.

Try Hyper Sports & Racing on (0845) 225 0111

Web address: http://www.hypersr.com/

They stock the Apexi Gauges so they must have a suitable mounting pod for it.

Try changing the bulb Ben.
Mine was yellowy and had nothing to do with dimmers etc, it has 12v feed direct off the lighting circuit. The bulb went a while ago and the new one is nice and white now.
Just a thought.

Cheers Bill, I'll try that.... I wouldn't mind putting a red bulb in actually so that it looks a little more like the rest of the dash.
