Im not sure if this is the right area but here we go.
Have you ever thought of having a reward for donations scheme. I know on other forums I used to use they had this.
i.e
Name on a list of Gold users
More say in what happens on SCN
More control over there posts and other things.
This is just an idea maybe youve already got a system like this already in place maybe not just thought I'd share the idea.

Not sure what that means Tom, but your welcome to suggest stuff all the time, and if its a good idea we'd seriosuly consider it. However i think the R forum chit chat was discussed at the time and fairly (not so those that wanted it to stay, however thats life).
The site doesnt really need donations, it supports itself with advertising, i dont want people to donate for something we manage, why should you, we do it as hobby so anyone and everyone can use it.
All monies that come in from advertising, pay our server rental costs, which means you get a nice quick stable server in which to discuss all things SEAT and more besides.
It gets too difficult when people have to donate to support something, its one of reasosn we dont run SCN as a club, it all comes down to a few people doing the work, and the people that pay expect something for their money, if you dont pay you dont have to expect anything. ;)
I can see what you mean though Prev, however id suggest that members who give out help to forum members and are regular friendly helpful users, can be rewarded with a moderator type status, and as an idea maybe they could be nominated for this task.?
I'll have to think and discuss with other admins, but i dont know what benefit they would get from it other than being able to have a little more control over the forums and their posts.
But SCN doesn't need donations as i say. It does need people to carry on posting and using it however, thats all we ask really, use it, benefit from it.
As far as I read, he felt that if people pay they're allowed a say. I was questioning that as that's not the case. You're allowed your say (as long as it's not about the same stuff again and again) and you don't have to pay...SCN isn't a dictatorship!

Free to suggest, comment even complain if you really feel you must, but we dont force people to use the site, and we certainly dont want you to pay us to run it. Or pay to have your say, though you can pay me if you want to, i wont say no ;)
