can any body tell me how the cruise control on a 1998 alhambra tdi works and what i would need to check to get mine working it hasnt worked since i bought the car and the trader i got it from keeps stalling about getting it sorted which makes me think this could be something expensive to sort :confused:

Have you got access to diag equipment, i.e VAG COM?

You can check all the inputs and switch functions with it.

Failing that have a look at your switches on the pedals, if your brake lights are working then id say its probably the clutch switch that has failed and cancelling the cruise.

no have no access to any equipment would need to take to a dealer just wondering if there are any switches i could check

i have checked the clutch switch with pedal up no voltage on both pins to earth with pedal pressed down 12volts on 1 pin and nothing on the other would this be working correctly

iirc teh early alhambra had problems with the cable control box under the bonnet usually scrap !! sorry

please can u explain what u mean cable controls for what :confused:
cruise control on the tdi is all electronic brake switch, clutch switch,speed sensor,steering column switch and ecu where is the cable control box. are you talking about the ecu

now correct me if im wrong but isn tthere athrottle cable on tha model of alhambra ?? :confused:

if so there is a box under the bonnet that interfaces the throttle cable for the cc !!

there is no throttle cable it is electronic
