Hi guys,
as im going down the route of KO3s and jabba, i am looking to sell my Revo'd ECU and SPS2 and p/x for a std ECU.
I have someone interesed, but what do i need to check to make sure the ECUs are actually interchangable between our 2 specific cars?
is it just a case of same engine code then ecus can be swapped?
or are there lots of different ECU part numbers and they have to be the same?
Oh and finally, what engine codes are;
2002 ibiza cupra?
2000 ibiza cupra?
Any info would be good!?
Thanks
Mark B :confused:

ive already got the gen on HOW to do it, i just wanted to know what info i needed off the ECU (if any) to work out if my ecu and the other ecu are actually interchangable, im guessing the earlier ibiza cupra 20vT's ecus wont work on a later ibiza cupra 20vt and the other way round?
or am i wrong, did the ecus not change?
Mark

90% sure it has to be the same ECU # - on the side or interogatable I think.

Mark when you've had your ecu mapped make you get it covered otherwise you'll have the same probs as me and a few others and trust me you dont want that :(

2000 Ibiza cupra is AQX engine code and 2002 is AYP as far as i know. The ECU hardware is probably the same, but the software in them is not! BTW software can be reflashed/changed as long as the ECU # is 06A 906 032

there's an A version too

Yes, i did not specify letters on purpose. A may be AQX then (156) - though they use two letters to specify installed software, AA is AYP (156) and AB (AYP) 180. As long as it is beginning with 06A 906 032, the hardware is the same. The only problem may be the content of the EEPROM which holds the immo data, but i guess the immo in 2000 and 2002 MK3 20VT-s are the same. If it would be a problem, then EEPROM data would have to be copied along with the engine management software.

A mate of mine (whom i chipped the car) has an ECU from a Golf 1.8T with the ibiza software and it's working. These "032" ECUs are mechanically identical, except from their content. Just open both up and you'll see.
