MPVs consume a little much more fuel than the catalog figures.

I think you are asking a question that Altea owners will not be able to answer for a few months at least - even if they were lucky enough to have received an Altea by now, you must give the car at least a few thousand miles for the engine to bed in & give accurate mpg - my leon for example took nigh on 15,000 before consumption started to get to the level I have experienced up until my current milage of 45k.
