What are people's opinions of these?
Anybody tried them on a 1.8t?
Bill did and you don't want to keep too much heat in the turbo or manifold. Standard manifolds crack Quite easily. Wrappin the downpipe may be of some benefit by keeping the gasses hot, and increasing velocity.
To be honest I'd probably leave it alone.
Be careful with rot if it's not stainless

The downpipe back seems like a good plan! But no turbo wraps, maybe i'll construct some type of sheild for it then to prevent the heat coming back up into the engine bay.
John have you recieved the cheque yet?

Heat wrap contributed to meltdown of my exhaust housing, dp and cat connection... All warped to feck.
Now using heat shielding to protect bist which I don't want melting.
time will tell... ;)
Lets resurect this!
Bill has there been any progress, or further info on this, at present i've got my Milltek downpipe that im yet to fit, but wondering if ,while its off, whether it would be of benefit to fit some exhaust wrap on it? And also maybe on the rest of the exhaust.
Although im sure i read a while back, that the increased heat that was kept in, caused the exhaust to melt through the rubbers, as the heat was transfered to the carriers.
Cheers

The heat has to go somewhere, so when wrapping at the DP for example that heat then passes on down the line to the next non wrapped section, which in turn runs hotter. and rubbers can get hot/melt. (mine are also jubliee clipped on the outside to help stop them from sagging when they see muchos hot exhaust)
I have run wrap on sections of my DP with no issue, for the reason of protecting other components from melting. My DP is stainless. (was and new one still is)
Pre-turbine insulation/ceramic coating can keep things hot and increase the gas velocity I have read. (not that you can wrap a cast exhaust manifold successfully.
My new setup at this moment is unlagged. I might wrap the DP section which passes the steering rack gaiter however.. (its shielded with insulating/reflecting stuff x 2 layers currently, but some localised heat wrap on the DP itself could'nt hurt.)
Smashing, cheers Bill, was hoping you'd see this and reply, good idea's with the jubilee clips too!
i am not going to wrap the mani exhasut etc etc as i dont want it to rot.
cant we just wrap refective sheilding on all the IC pipe? this is my idea!
