Hi SEAT Fans,

As the M.D of Richardsons Group, I read these postings with great interest.

Firstly I would like to applaude all the dealers who have been praised on these pages, secondly, the ones who have been criticised should swallow their pride and accept that they need to improve.

As far as my own company (Richardsons / RPM) is concerned,
I would be very interested to hear from any of you that have either dealt with us, or have heard of us.

Good or bad I need to know.

Email to medgecombe@richardsons-group.com

Also we will shortly release details of our new RPM Toy,,

LEON 240 by RPM Very Special............

On show at our RPM stand Westpoint Exeter 23/24 March Sports and Supercar show..

I have certainly heard of your company, but i find your web site very difficult to find things on, for instance, suppose i want to browse you parts and accessories, i click on the parts and accessories button and all i get is a form to fill in!!, how do i know what i want until i have seen it!!,

The RPM link is the same too, you click on it and it doesnt tell me anything about what you sell or what you can do for my car, it seems to be leaning towards MGF's and i dont own one!, a separate section for each of the makes of car and a list of parts and accessories for each model would be nice along with their current prices,

There are a lot of other sites that do similar things and they manage to be far more user friendly!, we never hear from any of your tech people with suggestions or help on the forums and this is how i base my decisions on buying and servicing, it tells me how much tech and parts people know and how helpfull people are, thats why my car gets serviced at Amethyst!!

I hope this is viewed as constructive criticism and is helpfull to you

Thanks for comments chaps.

I have emailed a link to this forum thread to my relevant people we will discuss it this week.

Website, I get what you mean,

Parts and Accessories are too numerous to list (Remember we are also MG and Rover)
The idea was for anyone who knew what they wanted to put it on the form.
Note this section was only intended for normal parts, anything out of the ordinary should be directed to RPM.

RPM, This was just a bit of fun for ouselves in the beginning.
Our company is over 100 years old, I felt we needed to inject some excitement into our people, so we bought an ex works rally car in Kiwi Yellow and went out and about ripping it up in the South West Stages, it was excellent, a great many of our team got involved.

Then SEAT had a few Cordoba SX 16Vs that they wanted to shift, so I had a discussion with our then area Manager, (Very positive guy) we agreed a purchase deal at a rate that enabled me to up spec the cars to what we know as WRC, and sell them at a sensible price.

From then RPM bumbled along, it had no real direction, no partnership agreements with approved suppliers, and no pre set systems for dealing with enquiries.

This month (March 02) see's the relaunch of RPM.

We are not interested in tacky bolt on goodies, we intend only to put our 105 year old name and reputation, onto quality products with recognised warranty and backup.

We intend to be known as "THE" professionals when it comes to upgrading the styling or performance of your SEAT, MG, Rover.

Keep watching, we shortly be releasing lots of info about the NEW RPM........

YES, I will split the website, SEAT - MG Rover on separate pages.

kEEP YOUR COMMENTS COMING, ITS A GREAT HELP!!

P.S Any of you checked out our new site for Company Car Drivers and Operators ? www.businesscarsolutions.co.uk let me know what you think, pass the link on to anyone you know who might benefit...

Edgie,

As a lot of us are modifying our cars on this forum and it is very hard to find almost anything out of the ordinary for SEAT's I would be interested to see how RPM develops in the future!

The good thing with this forum is that you will find your sternest critics but also praise as well!

Maybe you could offer a discount to SEAT Drivers Club Members?

Many thanks.

SI,,, Criticism or praise is what I need to hear, without it I have nowhere to go and nothing to strive for.

Keep it coming !!!!

Hi Edgie, good to see you on here.

I've thought many times about commenting on Richardsons/RPM but never actually got around to doing it.

I've had nothing but a friendly relationship with your staff since buying my car. I don't think that Paul, Colin or yourself have ever passed me by without some sort of acknowledgement. Paul has always been willing to spare time to answer any questions I may have, or just to ask how i'm getting on, and it's this sort of touch that keeps me coming back.

Admittedly you are my closest dealer and you're handy for my work, but if I did feel strongly about not bringing my car to yourselves, it wouldn't be much hassle to have it serviced at Congesbury. This simply isn't going to happen because I don't have reason for it to.

I won't pretend that everything's always gone without a hitch, but there's certainly never been anything major enough to even think about mentioning it here.

Also, this won't mean anything to anyone else, but I never did thank you for the help/advice that you gave me a few months back. You'll be glad to hear that I got it all sorted out. Thanks. (If anyone's wandering, it was nothing to do with Richardsons, just Edgie willing to spare some time to give me some personal advice).

I might have to stop filling the courtesy car up by your sales office though, because Colin's determined to sell me a new Ibiza, even on really, really cold days ;)

Oh yeah, and I could blame you for my lack of money due to spending it all on my car. You were telling all about induction kits/ehausts/chips/wheels etc the day I bought the car!!;)

Cheers,

Neil Padfield

I've heard nothing but good things about Richardsons/RPM. NeilP and others always seem very happy with your work and service.

I like your involvement in rallying too. Last year I came down for the Richardsons sponsored rally, and really enjoyed it. Your staff were really friendly, and invited me into your little cabin for a coffee, even though I'm not one of your customers or a prospective customer at the time. Sponsoring events like this, puts across a really positive message that you are passionate about cars and are not just there for the money. (It certainly must have cost you a fair bit to repair your Ibiza at the end of the day :D )

I hear you are selling the Ibiza rally car?! I hope you are going to replace it.

If I need anything doing to my car while I'm down in the West Country (which I am quite often), Richardsons would be the first place on my list to go to.

Only one grumble mind - as said earlier, you need to respond to e-mails quicker. I e-mailed RPM after Gti International last year and didn't get a response for 4 months - just a little thing, but an easy one to remedy.

Long live good dealers!

Phill

I had a good long chat with Simon Hayman from your RPM side a couple of weeks ago and I found him very helpful to a modding newbie such as myself.

My nearest dealer is Congesbury and I usually get my servicing done there (even though they are a little pricey). However they are a little old fashioned and I wouldn't even dream of mentioning "modification" to them or they would probably run a mile! :)

It is reassuring to know that I have a dealer nearby who seems to know what they are talking about and are passionate about the sportier side of Seats.

I have literally just sent Simon another e-mail with some queries I have, and I am sure I will be bringing some of my business to RPM soon.

Good to see you on the forum Edgie.

And I agree with Mosser (as a full time web designer myself) that your site does need a bit of work!

Cheers,

Syphon
