Ok Guys I have a very simple question for you!

I have a nice Clarion Head unit with 6 Disk CD changer in my 97 Cupra. I have uprated Kenwood speakers in the door bins, kenwood 6x9s in the shelf and the standard tweeters in the dash. I dont have any amps or subs.

My question is this; the speaker set up does not sound that good compared to my last (v-siple install) of the same kenwood 6x9s wired to an old sony cd head unit... what should I do to make it sound better? . The last install sounded very loud from the 6x9s, but they sound knickers when connected to my new clarion. Is this due to the fact that im driving more speakers?? Is there anything that I can do to improve the sound without completely nuking my boot space? Is it possible to put a small sub mounted into the cavity in the boot beside the wheel arch well? Also can you put an amp in there while not taking up too much room..

I just feel that I have spent quite alot of money and have not got a great result. My girlfriends dad has just bought a new standard punto with a six speaker set-up plus a small sub in the wheel arch well of the boot, this sounds great compared to mine (it doesnt have amps or anything and is the standard fiat fitment)

Hope you guys can help me out!!
Gerry.

flappers correct could well be a phasing problem
ie. the speakers are connected the wrong way round check all the connections to make sure there correct and that the speakers are firing the right way (outwards )it is possible to connect the speaker,s the wrong way round and fire the speaker backwards if you connect one speaker one way and another the
other way it can and will sound bad
if everything connected properly and your still not happy it,s time to go one step further and add an amp and a little bass
